Forums - Politics Discussion - Where did the Big Bang Come from?

i dont know why this is separate from religion. maybe god used a formula for creating everything. its not some genie bullshit in 7 actual days.

there was a time where if you said the earth wasnt flat you would get burned at the stake. glad those days are gone, and parts of the church now embrace science which is the right thing to do, granted it to various degrees, but it will evolve over time as everything has.

HAHAHAHA! Ow, my sides. Kent Hovind is such a loon. Even by creationist standards he's crazy. Good thing he's in jail so he can't keep infecting society with his nonsense. And dat Youtube channel. Apparently Puritan Pictures thinks Futurama and The Lion King are satanic.

Wow... i watched that to know what they were on about. That guy simply does not understand how mutation and natural selection work (probably hardly even tried to). I dont mean to insult anyone but the person on that video is ignorant. He makes a good speech though, fast paced to not give the audiance an opportunity to think. Funny that he mentions Hitler, cause that is exactly how he made his speeches.

Even if by some miracle, everything he said wasnt false, he still gave zero proof as to why God would be the explanation.

Please address all comments, questions, rebuttals etc... to Lawrence Krauss, as I am not a theoretical physicist.  He starts at 12:51

I always wondered why people spouted out theories as fact. (I guess the word Theory doesn't mean much to them)

In science, you don't draw an unsubstantiated conclusion from the start and then, look for "facts" that support the conclusion. You first ask yourself a question on a specific topic and form a hypothesis on it. Then, you test your hypothesis with experiments. You collect the data and analyze it to see if it supports or doesn't support your hypothesis. Even if your results support your hypothesis, you don't stop there. More questions will arise and thus, more hypotheses will be tested.

I'm well aware of the scientific method, thank you.

Because Theory's are both a Theory and a Fact.

Gravity exists yet it's still a Theory.

Young Earth creationists are by far the worst Breeds of Christianity. They spread the worst kind of Ignorance.

Looking at that big bang foolishness video it's still relevant today. It seems to say why bother with the why, too hard to understand, too much work to get yourself informed, no final answers anyway, just go with God and have time for more important stuff. And why not, stay connected with your neighborhood by going to church and participate in charity events, instead of spending your time learning the more intricate details of genetic switches and the current research into RNA formation.

It isn't really like that, though. Lots of people in every religion clearly don't do it because It's easier to not think about anything.

That's what I was trying to say :)

Science: We have lots of theories, we invite you to think about them and participate in the understanding of the world around us.
Religion: We have all the answers, we'll tell you how to live and get a big reward afterwards.

You read it wrong. I said that's not why they do it!

Religion is about spirituality. Science is about reality. If you respect those as two different things, you will be fine and you wont need to find the need to disprove one in the favor of the other.
