Forums - Gaming Discussion - What will gaming be like 20 years from now?

Streaming subscription service is my bet.

Physical home consoles will be largely gone IMO. Games will be streamed to households alongside movies and cable TV programming ala carte ... you can order whatever you want, whenever you want it. VR will branch out becoming its own entertainment type medium.

You'll be able to have photorealistic 3D graphics even on a phone. The $50-$60/game model will be dead by and large, all games will be digital only (no physical media). Your kids will laugh at you when you tell them you had to drive to the store to buy one single game that came on a plate sized shiny disc for $60 a pop.

And it's also going to be fucked if the Ouya will continue to be irrelevant!

Streaming will likely play a great part in the industry by then but i don't see consoles and physical media going away so quickly. Also, fuck VR. That shit is just creepy

Xbox One, PS4 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch will sell better than Wii U Lifetime Sales by Jan 1st 2018

-No you will have to choice between playing with Virtual reality or not and we will gaming on a 32k TVs
Sony,Microsoft and Nintendo will stay around but Sony stopping creating handheld and Nintendo stop home consoles could possibly happen.
Physical media will always stay there people want to sold their games when they stop playing them, smartphones will never kill consoles they don't attract the same type of gamers
I think Vgchartz will still exist

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

prolly a shitload of dlc and season passes multiplied by 1000

Virtual reality without any screen directly in your head.
