Cancelled Crash Bandicoot and Spyro Games Surface
We’ve recently stumbled across something interesting for all of you Crash and Spyro fans out there. If what we found is true, it spells more disappointment for both the Crash and Spyro franchise.
A professional digital artist named Ryan Harrison is making some very bold claims. Mr. Harrison was apparently working on both a Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon game for an independent company. Both games wound up getting canned, but here are the details straight from Ryan’s mouth.
It was in production in April of 2012 and got canceled in May 2013.
When asked about the titles of the Crash and Spyro games Ryan responded with the following statement.
I actually can not disclose that information because I’m still under a non-disclosure act for both titles and they do not want the titles released for some reason, maybe they are going to reinstate it? Even though they were both canceled. However I was allowed to post my work for them on my accord.
When asked about the cancellation Ryan responded with the following statement.
Honestly. They wouldn’t share us the detailed reason as to why. Our projects were fairly young when they were pitched. The Spyro project was much older than the Crash Bandicoot one. The only purpose of posting these were to display my work that I have done and provide interesting ideas that fans might like to see. So any questions outside of artistic inspiration are irrelevant and can not be answered by myself.
When asked about the progress of one of the game’s development (presumably Crash) Ryan stated the following.
It didn’t make it past pre-beta.
Obviously these claims have to be taken with a huge grain of salt; due to the lack of information Ryan is willing to put out. I understand he is under a NDA, but the man just revealed two supposedly cancelled games to some very popular franchises adored by millions. Ryan has provided concept art for both projects and the following images are just a few examples.

Overall I have to say none of this work looks familiar and the concept art does look impressive. Some of the images contain watermarks and they can all be viewed over here. If what Ryan is saying is true, it shows that Activison must really enjoy pulling the plug on games that cult fan bases would enjoy immensely.
