I didnt know we could change PS4 HDD.

So, I can surelly get a 500GB PS4, and when it HDD start to get full, I change it!

I imagine upgrading to a SSD instead would result in some games and features on PS4 performing better. If the PS4 supports SSD's that is.

It supports SSD, but the performance is not that much better to justify the price. PS4 out of the box is already fast, so the ideal solution is upgrading to a SSHD (hybrid), as they are much cheaper than SSD, and still offer a decent speed boost.

I upgraded to Seagate 1TB SSHD on day one, but I still wouldn't have filled the original one, since I delete games once I'm done with them. There is no reason to keep them, and no reason to DL all PS+ games either, just the one or two you plan to play at any given time.

Last I checked, the system supports up to 1.5TB HDDs. Reasonable to assume that will improve in the future with firmware updates. In anycase, you don't have to wait on SONY. Updating to a 1.5TB HDD should be a lot.

It can support over 1.5TB as well. I've heard about people installing 2-3TB HDDs in their PS4, as long as it's 2.5" it doesn't make a difference. Even 6TB HDDs can be used.

I hear the vast majority of drives over 2tb arent supported though... So I would do some research on any hard drive before attempting to install it...

Yeah the PS4 has quite a bit of memory to play with so I guess that helps and yes SSD's are a bit overpriced.  But I'm wondering do you notice much diffence in how your PS4 performs now with the SSHD in comparison to the original HDD

Hi,

A year ago I bought a 160 GB PS3.

I signed PS+, and bought some digital games on some digital sales.

But I have much more games than I can put on my 160GB. In only 1 year!

I hate not having all my games in my HDD.

I think about 500GB on PS4.

PS4 games are bigger than PS3 games, and we have more 5, 6, 7, 8... year more of PS4 .

I really doubt 500GB is enough for the whole generation.

What do you think?

Sony have plans for a PS4 with 1 or 2 TB in a near/mid term future? worth to wait for it?

Has cloudgaming(ps Now) some influence in this? with it i wouldnt need to keep games in HDD?

It's enough for everyone I know.  ou can always upgrade in the future when HDD's are a third the price they are now.

I've never used the original HDD, so I personally don't know, but here are two very good comparisons:

I believe you can't change the internal drive in Xbone - is that correct?

Don't worry about the space. 500 GB sure is too small for me, but 1 TB will be the standard next year. The CoD Xbone bundle already comes with a 1 TB HDD, I'm sure Sony and MS will turn this into a standard feature in 2015.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Totally depends upon individual user habits.

I installed 500 GB HDDs in my PS3s over the 7 years I've been using them and the only times I ran into storage issues was when I used to keep a lot of video files stored locally which ate up space fast.

More recently, due to all the free downloads I've been taking due to PSN+, storage space has become an issue due to having too many full retail games on HDD. It doesn't help that I have over 100 games purchased through PSN and have the majority of them installed as well.

With the higher install sizes for PS4 games, it's not difficult to fill up 500 GB, and even easier if you use the video recorder function while you play. They have that offload option in addition to the upload option so that's less of an issue, but it still doesn't take a lot of retail game installs or downloads to fill the drive.

I'll just say if someone buys a lot of games for the PS4 and likes to keep everything installed, even the games they no longer play, 1-2 TB would probably be a better fit. But the typical PS4 player won't need that much space, particularly if they delete their inactive game installs.
