The big question in the US is the current battle over net neutrality and how monopolistic cable companies like Comcast and Time Warner want to be able to legally alter your internet experience. Their big targets are heavy users, those that share files or use streaming services. If this comes to pass we could see internet speeds reduced by throttling or costs increased making the barrier for entry greater and the experience less enticing.
