People saying November or even October could you maybe give reasons? I mean if we take vgchartz' numbers and assume that the PS4 is going to continue selling at a comparable rate of 110k per week until September, then that would mean that the PS4 will have reached 9.5 million in the week before Destiny.

What makes you think would slow the PS4 down that much that it would take till November or to a lesser extent October for it to reach 10mil?

Gets better.  43.5m by end of 2008 (2015 for PS4)

Reality checks all round.  No more records will be broken.

 

And at the end of the day it still didn't come close to the PS2. I mean I know that a lot of people like to point out that the PS4 beat the Wiis launch and all that stuff, but I think that really doesn't matter. The Wii sold incredibly fast, reaching 80% of its sales in 4 years, that is something I don't think the PS4 will do, so it's really not important that the Wii sold at a faster rate at this point in its life as long as the PS4 lives longer.

Exactly.  Neither will the PS4.

The leader of this gen will be every bit as front loaded imo.  The world is a different place.  All 3 consoles will be officially available globally within the first 12 months.  That has NEVER happened before.

Legs of consoles will shrink as gens pass, not lengthen.  You only have to look at the Wii, 360 and PS3 as evidence.

PS3 had (read: is having) long legs.  Every Playstation has long legs.

In September. either Destiny week or the week after Destiny, it will be close i think when you do the math and could be either one. depending on how much TLoU and Madden gives a boost with how much Desitny will push PS4. also the slightest of adjustments could make it go either way. my guess is either Destiny week or the one after, and i am going on a limb and saying Destiny week.
