If you miss out on a console just because of your pride and ignorance, I feels bad for you. The Wii is just now comin out swinging and I hope even more people take to it. I wouldn't miss out on Kingdom Hearts 3 just because I'm a Nintendo fan. The point is, gamers should go where the funnest games are. I mean that is the reason why games were created right? And I understand that everything isn't for everyone but with something like Mario Kart 8 where EVERYONE in my house plays it, even parents that haven't touched a game since Super Mario Bros. and Pac Man. I'll buy any console that has a game that I want. I'm sure not missing Dragon Quest XI (probably PS4 exclusive) if it gets localized!

I love Wii U. Imo best console. I am bored consoles like PS4 and Xbox One. Gen after gen always the same. Sony and Microsoft can only duplicate ideas from Nintendo. I have X360 and I played on it last time maybe 2 yers ago.

The Wii U won't be emulated, it's too powerfull a Power PC machine to decently emulate, look at the Xbox 360 and PS3, emulatipn there is near nonexistant

Cartridge based consoles are easier to emulate than disc based consoles. You need quite a lot of power to emulate a different architecture

You clearly have no idea how emulation works do you?

It's not about the architecture (altough Power PC is ooollldd, reaally ooolllddd), it's about how complex the hardware and software work, and the less powerful the console, the easier it is to replicate and emulate.

In fact, Dolphin emulate Gamecube and Wii (which are disc based) so well and have for a few years, that they've already been advancing on emulation. We're talking about a minimum of 1,5 year and a max of 3 years to get PCs to emulate Wii U. Xbox 360 and PS3 are further off but not that much considering.

What? The Wii U is more powerfull than the X360 and has the same architecture, it'll take longer to emulate. And Dolphin can emulate the Gamecube and Wii quite well, but it's still far from perfect and the Wii wasn't exactly a super powerfull console.

I love using my Wii U, but I do have some mixed feelings about it.

The gamepad is pretty awesome IMO, and does not feel heavy in use like some people claim - I mean any sane person would let it rest on the lap while in use. It has a good selection of great games, while the only game I'd be interested in playing on either PS4 or XB1 would be Titanfall.

Would I prefer it to be more powerful at the expense of the gamepad? I really don't know, but I guess I'm leaning towards 'yes'. If that was the case I'm pretty confident that it would receive more third party support and also sell more as well as having a longer life. Then again, just playing Nintendo games in HD feels great and (in my opinion) cutting edge visuals rarely enhance the experience, although I found the Wii's lack of HD output unacceptable.

I usually own two consoles each generation, and I'll buy a PS4 around Christmas. That thing sure isn't worth the money yet. I feel those two will complement each other quite good.

Cool story if you don't like the Wii U.

I however think its a great system

so yay lol

Wii U is an awesome console A lot of people who don't know much about it or haven't played it, just like to jump on the internet hate train. Although the marketing in its 1st year was horrible, I don't think you can technically call it a fail until the end of its life cycle.

Pretty much. Gotta hop on the internet hate train, its the rule apparently lol

You replied to me just to tell me specifically that you wouldn't. The internet is a curious place lol.

I think people being unable to separate things they like/hate from things they think are good/bad is very significant and the source of day too many pointless arguments, honestly.

Not expecting a reply (I really don't care either way) but I feel that needs to be said more often.

That's exactly what I did. But the real problem is mainly people not understanding the meaning and semantic of words.

The Wii U is a failure, objectively, statistically and by numbers and by predictions.

Is it good or bad? It's not bad, but it's good, it's not a badly chosen concept, a very poor choice of branding and and most importantly a very weak hardware compared to the demand and requirements of the market now and in the future.

Should people like it or not? NOW that is up to everybody to decide. That's the difference between the objective judgment and the subjective opinion.

I dont understand how a console can be bad but have good games. To me the quality of the games, especially exclusives are what determines the quality of the console itself.

Thats precisely what I´m getting at.

As long as there aren´t any major hardware oversights(like...say... If the GamePad had only one analogue stick and only two buttons  or the console was only able to output 480p....again) the games are the deciding factor and determine how good a videogame console is.

But thats a novel idea for some...I suppose.

First you said "Don´t give me sales as an agrument, those are borderline irrelevant". I won't even reply to that. For the rest, see above. My opinion, it doesn't matter in the current case.

I am one of those who don't like the Wii U and already bought it.

I don't know what puts the Dreamcast and GameCube above the Wii U. Especially the Dreamcast. The few worthwhile games it had were ported to other consoles and playing them there made it clear why Sega had to exit the hardware business.

As for everything, you have to judge things in their context. And both in their context and out of them, Dreamcast and Gamecube were great consoles, maybe be better than the PS1 or 2, and without a doubt better than PS3, Xbox 360 or One, Wii U...

To understand, I guess you either had to know video games at that times, or learned video games after and be able to put it in context.

I bought it and like it.

Bad thread is bad thread

Why make a thread like this after the Wii U has started to turn itself around? Yes it failed out the gate, but its new marketing has been a massive success considering where it was. Their sales are up and come the holidays they have a lineup that's pretty hard to beat: Smash, amiibo, Captain Toad, and renewed interest in Mario Kart 8. That's not even considering the possibility of a price drop and the inevitable, well priced bundle.

To show I'm not just blindly following Nintendo, I think they have been total f*ckups until last April was it, when they started pushing Mario Kart 8 they way they needed to. Nintendo's biggest failure was releasing a year early without a bevy of top tier release titles and the amiibo. The amiibo is built into their hardware. They released a machine with a new selling point, but said selling point wouldn't be out for another 2 years. That is utter incompetency.

Loyalty, nice. As long as you know where your priorities lie, then that's fine. Wasting time on one thing is... well, a waste of time.

I like the Wii U, a bit. However I'm waiting for it to be a finished console before I grab one - all these updates Nintendo's been dripping out for the system(boot up time, gamepad utilities, miiverse updates) should have been there out of the box, imo.

But most of all, I'm waiting for the games.
