So many people claim XBO can do 60m+ in their predictions, I really don't see that, and here is why

Not enough exclusives, if I want third party games I will buy them on Steam or get a PS4

For the same price as a PS4, I am gonna PS4 for better graphics and Sony Exclusives

I do see Halo 5 being a big seller but I have no interest in the Master Chief Collection as I still have my orignal Xbox with Halo 1 and 2

Also the gap is inceasing between Wii U and XBO

I don't think the XBO will bomb, I say it can do 35m+ but I don't see it doing 60m

I think you are reasonable in your expectations, I see it falling between 20 and 45 million units over the next few years.

Now about the high expectations of some, I think that some gamers get attached to certain companie's products, they're very loyal (I personally never bought two consoles from the same manufacturer when going from one generation to the next, except this time going from PS3 to PS4, until the xb1 reveal I was tempted to go xb1 as I liked a few things and the mostly better third party that I missed on the 360...  I also like Uncharted, TLoU, Wipeout and God of War VERY VERY much, it was really a toss up).

Now the weaker hardware made it easy, then all the policies around the DRM, how apps were behind the gold account pay wall and the Kinect were just icing on the cake.

To their credit MS fixed the policies and made a kinect free version of the xb1 available, but the core problem of the console is that it was designed around the inclusion of a costly piece of hardware and it needed to recoup all the R&D money spent on Kinect 2 integration, that cannot be taken out, they sacrificed the GPU and memory config to the altar of motion gaming... only a new console can fix this.

They do? I don't

I think you aren't putting enough faith in the Master Chief Collection.. It will sell VERY WELL during the holiday season! Let's not forget that the game also comes with access to the Halo 5 beta!

It will sell well but the only reason people will buy it is because of the Halo 2 remake and all of the maps. If you have a 360 you already have the greater Halo experience. They are just throwing the same game at everyone again because they cant make new IP's.

Oh so you admit that 1080p for Halo 1/3/4 are not improving the experience... (1080p for 2 not confirmed yet).
Looks like 720p vs 1080p is a big deal in other circunstances... I see how it works :)

I've always predicted 30-35m. Anything more than 40m is crazy town banana pants. I think the PS4 will even struggle to get into the 60 millions.

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m

Much of it depends on how Microsoft handles the system. I would be surprised if they are in any rush to get a successor done and be content with another long life cycle (as would Sony). So, if Microsoft are happy with that scenario of a solid second place and profitable system I see no issue getting to 60 million by 2020.

Because it is a healthier platform in the long run. PS2 proved the point that with 3rd party support, you don't need a lot of exclusives to do well. The games people care more are 3rd party titles, like we had CoD, BF and GTA being kings in the previous gen. This gen we will start to see an early domination with Destiny. These games have heavy advertising and are capable of creating hype. People will by a console to play them and they will choose between PS4 and X1.

X1 will cover a lot of terrain to close the gap during the holidays because GTA V, AC and Destiny will help him do it. Of course, more people are choosing the PS4, but there is enough people choosing X1. A console has to be made for 3rd parties, not by your studios. Nintendo has its marketing budget, but Sony and MS count on their marketing budgets and the marketing budgets off all companies making games for them. And people will buy what the ads them them to buy.

I see you prediction on the sig. Why the PS4 will do worse than the PS3? Why a record selling console will fail to beat a troubled predecessor that was launched at US$ 600 and made mistakes from 2007-2010 non-stop? Why the X1 will only outsell the Wii U by 5M when it simply crushed the 1 year advantage and it's close to passing it right now? Why the Wii U will sell 35M when it is tracking behind the GC that only did 21M? Unfortunately, these predictions aren't making any kind of sense.

Despite all that, predicting the 3DS ending with more sales than the PS4 at this point is plain craziness. 3DS and Vita are facing direct competitions with smartphones. The consoles aren't. Why would they? Playing CoD in a 40' screen with 30 people looks any kind of similar to playing on a 5' tiny screen with garbage touch control? Just the kind of hate the Dualshock 3 got for not being as goos as the 360 controller for shooter shows that the public can be quite picky. PS4 will have legs as all its predecessors had. At this point, PS4 may even end outselling Wii U + 3DS, but that's a bit of a stretch. PS4 is actually looking to do around halfway the distance between the PS1 and PS2 and end with 120M. X1? You could get the total numbers for PS360 and transfer some sales to PS4 and maybe add the natural market growth.

Because a console is a console. People liked Xbox 360 and people was hoping next-gen would be even better and got a few disapointments. Doesn't mean people aren't allowed to have faith. People seem to blindy realize that the Xbox One is selling double of that Xbox 360 did at launch and that was considered very successful. There's a bit more too it than what you think and for god sake please don't use the cutting down staff as a reason. You didn't, but I was just making sure because them arguements are always dumb.

I think people are acting like the Xbox One is already dead, I think they are wrong. Just the beginning in my opinion.

Nope. They are giving us more Halo cuz Halo is awesome. The fans want it, Microsoft want it. And 4 games for the price of 1 is an insanely good deal!

Thats far too much hype for one franchise. Seriously, when you look that thats pretty much all it is that MS is building up to right now.

A lot of people's judgements are clouded.

The only reason the PS4 looks good and the XBox One semi-good is because both companies were smart enough to play on last year's hype and managed to pump millions of units onto the shelves for a big launch. Right now though, the sales of this gen are pretty bad and are laughed at by the sales of the 7th gen from the same respective point in time. If the PS3 was considered 'bad' last gen, WiiU and XBox One are outright attrocious and even PS4 isn't exactly spectacular.

Meanwhile XBox One still isn't getting any closer to WiiU and for now there's little reason to believe it will anytime soon. As long as this doesn't happen, XBox One isn't getting to any number WiiU won't and saying it will reach 60m means you're also saying WiiU has at least an equel chance of doing the same. Same can be said about the PS4's chances to catch 3DS.
