Forums - Gaming Discussion - Excessive HD remasters.

I'm all for them making money. I just think it's a scumbag move to charge full price, or close enough, for a remaster.

You say it's not different than normal ports, but it is. They're releasing year old games, not brand new ones, at the same price you might pay for brand new material. How much work did they do on them? Not much. They're charging 125% of the price for a game that took 10% of the effort.

How often before have we gotten such terribly priced HD remasters? Yeah with the price drop it's the same price as Wind Waker HD, but Wind Waker was out of production, years old, and received a massive upgrade so it was a great value. Hell most HD Remaster games now come as Collections and are much cheaper than a standard game. FFX/X-2, DMC HD Collection, and several MGS collections are great examples of HD done right and packed with value, but today's re-releases? Not so much.

This is an important topic that needs to be discussed.

OP: I think remasters of old games are reallnood, and games that barely released and not much time is passed should be priced slighly cheaper imho.

It really isn't.

It really is.

It's not, it's a non-issue that is blown out of proportion by certain people for reason that everybody knows.

Wanna know why there are so many remasters of newer games? Because the new gen started last year, period. Over the next couple years the remastering trend is gonna go completely back to how it was last gen.

If developers start announcing remasters of PS4 games on PS4 then we have something to talk about, until then we have nothing but a bunch of people that want to make a stink about the PS4 (cause ironically the X1 is almost never mentioned in this context.)
