PS4 has consistently outsold both consoles month-by-month despite having a pretty meager lineup...and the PS4/XONE haven't even been on the market for 8 months, and they're somehow already losing their grip. NPD numbers have put the PS4 outselling both XBONE/WiiU collectively, and we all know how well Sony products sell in Europe, so it's a safe bet that the console will continue outselling their competitors there as well. Japan's console sales are irrevalent, as neither the PS4 nor WiiU are selling well there.

Times are changing.

No, they are not. PS4 will only grow the gap after the slow summer months and sales pick up, and ps4 will be cheap this gen like ps2 was, expect it to be below 200 in year 4, it was MADE specifically with quick price reductions in mind.  How are times changing? Based on 1 week in the slow summer months? LOL, people are very short sighted here.

I dont think you read the rest of my post then. See ya.

Do you really think Smash, Bayonetta, and Toad are going to push Wii U sales that much?

You forgot Hyrule Warriors and Sonic Boom (ew..butwahever).

Yes....................... push to about 8.5-9m. by end of 2014.

But like I said, 2015 will show the new average weekly sales.

Non of those will move hardware either.

So I guess i'm bad at predicting sales, i greatly underestimated MK8  and Watchdogs before......and now apaprently i am overestimating Smash Bros + few more titles in the HOLIDAYS.

Nahh...... a conversation about wii u ps4 and x1 in future turned into just wii u.

The 10 year plan is wishful thinking at best and so is 100mill sales. This is the first gen where Sony and M$ have released relatively weak hardware. Expect new consoles no later than 2019 (M$ will launch it's next system alongside Nintendo in 2018)

ROFl..no. MS is not launching a console in 2018.

Historically, the typical release between hardware iterations is 5-6 years. If the Xbox One continues it's trend of subpar sales and the PS4 pulls ahead even further, then yes, while continuing to support Xbone they will release a successor before Sony can. You also have to factor in that both companies have launched hardware that is at best mid tier in terms of today's standards. In 5 years both consoles will really begin to show their age.

Sony is never letting MS launch a full year ahead...it's never going to happen, it only happened with PS3 because blu-ray patents held it up. Launching too early  also will only damage the brand. You cannot just keep jumping early in a desperate attempt to be first. It's not happening.

Please do yourself a favour and research what the average release timeframe is between generations of consoles. Historically 5 -6 years. The only reason M$ and Sony got away with 7-8 last gen is because they launched considerably powerful hardware. M$ did launched the 360 early (only 4 years after the Xbox) as a desperate attempt to be first and it paid off by increasing their user base from 20 million to 80 million. You can believe all you want that Sony won't let M$ launch ahead again, but In 4 years from now, I'll make sure to bump this thread.

In 5 years sony will also release the nest PS, Xbox is not launching first. You also cannot just Launch when you  want, you need the publishers, developers on board....Please it's not that easy.

Sony and MS both will launch in 5 years. MS only launched first with 360 not because they WANTED to...PS3 got delayed remember due to issues with bluray.....Revisionist history. Sounds more like wishfull thinking on your part. MS cannot just do what they want when they want....

If the PS4 was "pulling a Wii", it would be sold out for a few years....

?? Look at the sales bro...PS2 and 3 only sold on a gimmick? The ps2 had the best library and massive third party support...PS3 also had tonnes of great games, features, and third party support... DVD players were 20 bucks a mfew years into ps2's life , same with bluray, and bluray never nreally tookk off, your argument is not basd in reality. Sony has sold more consoles then anyone since entering the market..it is not because of "Gimmicks". Sony is not nintendo. Why is ps4 selling so well if it doesn't have a "Gimmick". Laughable

Yes Sir. But them both bloated initially their installed base due to the attached gimmicks. And in some countries a DVD and a Blu Ray player is a big deal, i.e. they cost a lot. I know so many who bought them for their video playing capacity.

Why dont you present me the total comsoles sold per total games sold (for each console) and then we may continue the argument?

LOL no...DVD players were 20 bucks and so where bluray when those systems were not even half way throuhg it's life. PS2 sold 50 million after ps3 launched. your post  was a fallacy. Bluray never even took off. It was the games, platform that sold ps2's and ps3's... please.

Look at ps4 sales, from your own admission..no gimmicks.  They never sold much based on just DVD amnd bluray, people buy playstations for GAMES>

No. Wii sold spectacularly for four years. If PS4 is really slowing down NOW, it's pulling a Dreamcast more then anything else.

That said, I'm sure things will pick up once it has a library worth buying it for.

Wii also fell off a cliff after 4 years ps4 won;t and will sell longer. Pulling a dreamcast? LOL what does that make x1 and wii-u then? Ridiculous downplaying.
