Forums - Gaming Discussion - Evolve to support DLC better than "any game ever before"

It's become something of a cliché to ask about DLC before games have even been released, but Evolve developer Turtle Rock seems pretty open about its post-release intentions. In an interview with OXM, co-founder Chris Ashton stated that not only was Evolve built "from the ground up" (also a cliché) for DLC, but that it supports that sweet long-tail content "more so than any game ever before".

Ashton compared Evolve's style to his last game, a little co-op shooter published by a company you've probably never even heard of: "You know, in Left 4 Dead we could make new environments, but we really didn't have a structure there to make new characters or zombie types, so we were pretty limited on what we could do, DLC-wise. But with Evolve... we made these modular pieces - the way the whole game fits together means we can make new maps, new environment types, new wildlife, new monsters and hunters, and all of that stuff just plugs into the game."

As we already know, there's already one unseen DLC monster in the works, but Ashton was quick to reassure us that the modular design was more reactive than proactive: "We're definitely looking to see how the community reacts... It's designed to have a long life - hopefully that works and we get to try a bunch of crazy things with the community after release. As long as people are into it and the DLC does reasonably well, then we'd like to keep making more. At the end of the day, it's a business and it has to make sense, but we believe that we've built a game that does support that really well - more so than any game ever before."

Don't forget - as an Xbox One owner you'll be getting the first of that DLC, and a beta, before anyone else.

Could happen, it will have quite a job on to beat the way Borderlands handled DLC though.

I know eh. Borderlands 2 has 46 things listed under dlc on their steam page. Maybe this will hit 50, first on Xbox Live.

Sounds cool. DLC is always better when there is a plan in place ahead of time.

Do they mean better, or just more?
Because so far it just seems that this game is a $60 online-only game filled to the rim with micro-transactions.

So it's made for DLC? Why is this getting praised?

AKA Evolve.

DLC= Evolve 2.0 + 3.0 ?

ya.

DLC EVOLVED...

They invented planning ahead. Good for them. I hope they will patent this revolutionary new technology.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Isn't Evolve a L4D dlc?

Never heard of this game before today but I'm not a fan of FPS anyway.
