Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox One vs. PS4: What Microsoft’s console does better than Sony’s

To add:

-A better online infrastructure thanks to dedicated servers and with better voice chat and skype integration. Being able to chat with my PC friends will playing on my X1 never gets old.

-Xbox Music and Xbox Fitness having free features with Gold too

Well, Sony is coming out with their own internet TV streaming service which would cut out the middle man so Microsoft doesn't have them beat in that department.

So do these advantages along with X1s exclusives make the X1 appeal to you more, or is the X1 just a weaker console for the same price as the PS4?

What advantages? And what exclusives?

The advantges mentioned in the OP, and obviously all of X1s exclusive games.

Television - just no

Kinect, voice commands, app switching - Huge No, big no and no

Resume games - never felt the need and i doubt i'll use it when PS4 has it

Twitch - this would be the only thing i'd remotely call an advantage but only if I used my consoles in the living room; i don't, so I don't need it. Not to mention PS4's PS live has the interact feature which is better and something that you can't actually do on any other twitch-able device

battery life - Batteries? No thanks

Frequent updates - that's a big disadvantage. i'm already annoyed with PS4's updates, the less the better.

Exclusives - Only interesting one is Sunset Overdrive, not enough.

I have a gaming PC and i use all my gaming devices on the same exact place and display/monitor, so "console exclusives" and things that i'd prefer to do on a PC instead of a console will never sway me towards a XB1.

Try to see it from somebody else's point of view.  I'll admit that some of these are kind of a strectch but, for me, a few (not all) are pretty nice and the reason my Xbox One gets more use than my PS4.  You can't just "No" and "No thanks" everything as if they don't exist.  One has 'em and one dosen't.  Just like the PS4 has some features the One doesn't.

Common misconception, as PSN has had dedicated servers since day one.

How is voice chat better?

Much more important than those small details are the games. At the same price, people will opt by the machine that has better exclusives. At the moment, I think it's XOne. But I expect the PS4 to even in the near future and to surpass it in the long term.

Prediction made in 14/01/2014 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 100M      XOne: 70M      WiiU: 25M

Prediction made in 01/04/2016 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 100M      XOne: 50M      WiiU: 18M

Prediction made in 15/04/2017 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 90M      XOne: 40M      WiiU: 15M      Switch: 20M

Prediction made in 24/03/2018 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 110M      XOne: 50M      WiiU: 14M      Switch: 65M

last gen that was the PS3 but people went with what had the better optimised games which was the 360, this gen the PS4 is the system with the better optimised games so as a result the PS4 is selling better than the XB1, exclusives used to sell consoles but multiplats seams to be the deciding factor now, if a multiplat looks and run better on one console than the other the one that runs them better is the one that will be more popular, that's what happened last gen with the 360.

Current PC build:

Asus Z97I-Plus, i5 4790K @ 4.6ghz, EVGA GTX 980 ACX 2.0 1377/1853/124%, Corsair Vengence Pro 2400mhz 2x 8192mb, Corsair RM850, Corsair H80i, 120GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD, 750GB Seagate Momentus XT SSHD, 320GB Weston Digital HDD, Corsair 230T, Corsair K50 Raptor, HP XQ500AA mouse, Windows 10 Pro 64bit. iiyama Pro Lite G2773HS 120Hz 1Ms G2G gaming monitor.

A bunch of non-essential features won't sway anyone to get one console over another.

The sleep/resume feature is also coming to PS4. As for battery life.. X1 controller does well, though, it still runs on AA batteries and battery packs. DS4 one is lacking in that regard, but has built in rechargable li-ion (that, in my experience, are so much more robust than any normal rechargables.)

The most important factor is the games (obviously), namely the exclusives. And games performance.

Battery life and updates make this article a joke. So does twitch point. So does claiming they are the same price and using Kinect as a point. So does using one point twice but rewording it to make it seem like a different point.

Verdict, joke of an article

I disagree. X360 sold more at the beginning because it was way cheaper (sometimes being at less than a half of the price!). But, in the end, PS3 managed to sell as much. How such extraordinary recovery took place? PS3's strong line up of exclusives did the magic, not multiplatforms (which did not become inferior on the X360 at any moment during the entire generation).

PS4 is a bit more powerful than XOne, I know that. But if, along with the hardware price match, XOne came with an online service offering what PSN Plus offers, I bet the system would sell as much or even more than PS4. Meaning that, at the exact same price (or better saying value-for-money) so that the only differentiating factor is the machine and its games, XOne would be selling more than PS4 due to the fact that XOne has better games and that alone is far more important than the machine itself.

The american media playing favourites with the american product? Don't say that, we don't want no conspiracy theories here.

Useful updates are welcome.  Simple system stability updates are annoyingly tedious.

All the updates are useful on X1?
