I'm sure that's what MS was thinking when they bought Rare. Did that bring them a large casual audience? Not really.

They didn't buy Rare to get Nintendo's audience. They bought Rare to cripple Nintendo's exclusive output so they could more easily enter the console race, which it did.

And there was no "casual audience" to take from Nintendo. That started with the Wii.

Why should Capcom be for sale, an anti-takeover measure rejection does not automatically mean that. The planned countermeasures could just be inefficient or too expensive or the company that plans to takeover Capcom has already enough shares to vote against such measures.

Seems like a bad bet for both parties. Capcom would instantly loose most of it's value if it's limited to Nintendo platforms which would mean Nintendo would have to far overpay for the parts they would actually want.

I mean as it stands right now most of Capcom's software sold is on Xbox and Playstation. Most of their IPs don't have a large audience on Nintendo platforms.

If Nintendo bought Capcom they wouldn't even bother using most of the IPs because there is little audience for them on Nintendo platforms.

Look at MS with Rare, they don't use many of the IPs because there isn't a big audience on Xbox for 3D platformers.

Microsoft bought Rare for a different reason than why Nintendo would buy Capcom. Mega Man would sell well on Nintendo. Street Fighter would sell well on a paper bag if it was called V. Everything else would be used as way to give the "hardcore" an actual reason to get a Wii U. Because there wouldn't be just one mature game. There'd be an entire Capcom's worth of them.

And you know absolutely nothing about Rare if you think all they where good for was 3D plaformers.

You're funny. But yes, if Nintendo bought Capcom, all Capcom software would be on and only on Nintendo platforms.

I guess that is why they are making Bayonetta 2 right?

Capcom has some strong IPs that would be great as Nintendo exclusives for sure, such as Mega Man, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter etc.

Not to mention some long abandoned ones that I'm sure many would like to see come back, like Ghouls n Ghosts, Gargoyle's Quest, Final Fight, Darkstalkers, Power Stone, Breath of Fire (a REAL comeback, not shitty cell phone games), Maximo, Onimusha, Viewtiful Joe, etc. etc. etc. etc.

But I'm not sure how willing Nintendo would be to buy up a big company like that. They certainly passed on Atlus. The studios they've "bought" in the past, or made exclusive deals with, have tended to be smaller, such as Monolith, Retro, Next Level Games, etc.

It would be cool to see, in a way, especially because Capcom has really sucked for the most part over the last 10+ years. But I don't know that we'd see it happen.

No.Capcom has millions of fans who don't play Nintnendo and their games have sold best on PlayStation.

That's literally the exact reason why Nintendo should buy Capcom. Nintendo wants people who don't play Nintendo to play Nintendo. If Street Fighter V was a Wii U exclusive, that community would buy a Wii U faster than you can sa-

Except for one thing. Not everyone at Rare was on board with being bought up by MS. That is why there was a mass exodus of talent after that occured. Most of the best talent behind games like Perfect Dark and Banjo-Kazooie, not to mention DKC, KI, etc., were long gone by the time MS could even get any games out of Rare. Now look at them, relegated to making Kinect games.

Nintendo really should purchase Capcom!!!

They could and should, but wont! Hopefully whoever buys them will force em to restore their many franchises to their former glory and make sure they don't try anymore of that anti-consumer stuff.

I just want to add that additionally to the benefits of ownership over Capcom IPs & the skilled manpower, it would be a paradigm shifting acquisition in Japan for other game companies.
Think about it, with PS4 dev costs & lackluster sales, Japanese game companies like SE, Namco, Konami, who have been turning their back on Nintendo for a few years now, would have almost no choice than aknowledge Nintendo prevalence in the Japanese Market, resulting in the possible coming back of IPs like Winning Eleven, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Tales of, Tekken...
There's more in it for Nintendo than just buying/owning Capcom.
