while splatoon does look good, it doesnt look that good to be receiving all the praise and attention its been getting. Splatoon is no where near games like The Division in scale, depth or ambition, yet the amount of excitment (mostly on this forum) is surprising for a game like Spatloon. is it just because its a TPS from nintnedo? honestly it doesnt seem like all that, it seems more of a PSN/Eshop/XBL type of game, not that there is anything wrong with that.

if this game was an XB1 or PS4 game it would have been vastly overshowded by other bigger and more interesting games. at least thats my opinion. 

Yes, probably. And it's a colorful shooter at that! You don't see many of those ;) I love it!

And besides, does every game have to be ambitious, deep, dark, gritty and have a Hollywood like story? Why can't games just be fun?

Maybe, but it's also getting a lot of interest because it's a new IP with an interesting mechanic. It'd be getting a lot of attention regardless of where it was, for sure.

Agreed King. I don't see much interest in this game for me. And if it was one the other two it was would overshadowed for sure.

Nintendo has a potential hit in their hands

It's a creative and original shooter, unlike those on the XBONE and PS4. The only other shooter that stood out to me was Evolve, and that game also gets a lot of attention.

Besides, you've only seen one mode on one stage. Bit early to say it looks like an ESHOP game... 

Would probably get as much attention if it would be an as example new Naughty Dog game but not as much if it would be a new game from maybe Konami.

There are some factors which increase media attention. First rule is that it should be on console (PC only and sites like IGN are not talking too much about it even if 10 million will pay it). Second rule is that it should be exclusive and third that it's a first party exclusive or exclusive from Ubisoft/EA.

So yeah, it is getting more attention because it's a Nintendo exclusive but it would also get as much attention as Sony or Microsoft exclusive if it would be from certain developers.

A game doesn't need to have a 500k budget to excite people! But I do admit that it's getting a lot of attention just because Nintnedo's platforms always lacked on TPS.

This. Splatoon and Evolve are the only shooters that interests me in the near future (and I'm counting Uncharted as a shooter btw)
