Nice post. Enlightened people are the worst.
Yeah no kidding sounds like a beauty contest to me.
"There is no winner here, we are all beautiful in the inside and that's what matters!". *fake smile*
"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"
THANK YOU. People annoy me SO MUCH when they go off on that whole rant. They lurk in the comment sections of basically every site and berate anyone who tries to offer their opinion of who had the stronger show. Despite what they they, it actually is possible to look at every conference objectively and determine who made the biggest impact. "Your personal company of choice will always be the one who won" is bullshit. Any rational person can look at the big picture without bias. I love Nintendo most, but they pretty much never "win".
I've been toying with the idea of making this thread, but now I don't have to!

The big three are in competition; competition for our patronage. Competition is what stirs these companies to try harder to appeal to us and win us over. So it is fair that we judge and critique their presentations. That said, there is a lot of biased and blind vitriol, and the concept of 'winning' is so subjective that it borders on pointless. As pointless as the "GAMERS ARE THE WINNERS" mindset, sometimes. I prefer to judge each one on their own merits and faults, personally. |
Thank you for actually reading the post and responding to the content of the post lol. Some people have already posted, and many will post, who they thought won e3. Even though that's not what I'm discussing. I want to discuss the Idea of a winner of e3.
To your point about how it's pointless because of how subjective it is, I am a huge nintendo fan, and I thought it was so obvious that Sony won e3 2012. Not everybody is confined by their preferences. In fact, it seems to me that most people aren't. From what I have seen, there seems to be a general consensus that nintendo won it this time around. I don't know what you think or what you have seen as a general consensus, but I have see a. Lot give it to nintendo. I do think that a lot of people are placing Sony ahead of Microsoft, however, completely because of bias.
E3 is not a tournament with a winner. The gamers are the winners.
And yes, I'm sooooo much better than everybody else, everybody IS beneath me.
I hope that you are even more annoyed now, hah.

And M$ won. :) But I see where you're coming from. It sucks to be on a forum and not be able to have a discussion because of the "unbiased" guy. I've been that guy several times. Really, it's either a valid opinion (like how I feel this year) or it's what the person who lost says because they'd rather say everybody wins instead of saying that their company losts (I've also been that guy, too!). Anyway, carry on. Gotta go to sleep. :( |
Yeah, and maybe the fact that nintendo doesn't allow leaks gains them favor because of a wow factor which I think is an important aspect of e3. Lol. But yeah, ms had a very good e3 and I was pleasantly surprised and impressed.

In regards to E3 I think company Y had a much better presentation than company X but I dont expect the situation on gaming forums or in sales to change. Company X will get most of the attention in terms of sales, hype threads and players. I worry that in a month from now no one will be talking about the cool games company Y announced and all focus shall be on company Xs and company Zs big games.

Omg I totally agree. We can be objective about this if we care to, or if we try to. People think it's impossible. That may be true that it's impossible to be completely unbiased, but we can minimize bias to the point where it's not a huge determining factor, and bias helps us open other peoples eyes who are also trying to be unbiased to another point of view.
But yes, this enlightened GAMERS WON mentality is starting to get old. It's not original, it's jot cute anymore, and it just gets in the way of the real topic at hand.

Note: The Amazon Links are not hourly they are cummulative sales so everything sold up until June 1st to June 13 is totalled to get the results. |
That's an interesting thing to throw into the mix, and I think this should always be thrown into the discussion. People want to put Sony over ms, but ms is turning peoples heads.
