Hmmm...Mario Kart is a mega franchise and has always sold a ton?

The one thing I'd say is that graphics sell. MK8 got a lot of attention simply because it looked next geb. By comparison no one is giving two craps about smash bros.

Well, honestly, it makes me sad too. I feel that talent and diversity should be celebrated and rewarded and the whole industry has become shallow and plagued by fads and fashion. So many games deserve higher sales while even more get massive sales almost for free and without half the passion and thought put into them.
