Put your road to work, with Solar FREAKIN' Roadways!

Solar Roadways, is technology that replaces all roadways, driveways, parking lots and such with intelligent solar panels. The panels would generate electricity and would have LED lights that could change to alert people of upcoming dangers.

Wow. I saw the original pitch on this years ago.... Can't believe it's built and ready for for funding. I need to get in this somehow.

Sounds awesome but its gonna cost way too much to turn every road and pavement into a solar roadway.

But you could do it in a smart way. Start using this only with the yet-to-be-done roadways, and upgrade the rest of the roads when you would repave them.

It could be done, but what would be the budget for this? There is almost 7 million kilometres of paved roadway in the US. It would cost trillions to build this. 

the was good marketing but the engineer in me is left unconvinced. still, the idea is great. hope something comes of it.

But over how many years? 20? 30?

And don't forget that the more it is used, the cheaper it will become, plus you can also sell the rights to market the electricity produced by them in advance.

Romania could definitely benefit from this!

And give SkyNet even MORE power? I don't think so.
