Forums - Gaming Discussion - AT&T buys DirecTV for $48.5 Billion

I like AT&T, at least relative to my other option which is Comcast. Comcast is more expensive, and much worse.

I decided to try Comcast again after they hyped Xfinity TV and 105Mbit internet. The internet was fast, but the TV is utter s*it. Ran back to AT&T U-verse as fast as I could.

I like that that happened.  I don't like either of them.  Now it's just one.

Because even less competion is a good thing....

Two different markets. Its not less competition. Verizon is also a cell and tv provider.

What is bad is when two companies in a single market become one... especially when there are only a few to begin with.

You are late and very wrong. I already answered this days ago. Direct TV and AT&T both provide  "cable" TV service. I lived in Baton Rouge, LA for two years. I had three options: Cox Cable, AT&T U-Verse, and Direct TV. So how exactly is that two different markets?

So they provide TV to 22 states. meh. I still don't consider this an issue. There are four major TV providers coast to coast. THen there are a variety of regional carriers that operate in a few states plus growing new comers like Google's Fiber that once the bugs are fully worked out we'll see it blanket the country in typical Google fasion.

This is not a bad thing and not the same as two major carriers joining to become one. All this will do is allow AT&T to offer coast to coast service via satellite and dish customers will have a good option for internet / cell.
