Nay in general.

Pre-order bonuses should be timed. Tekken Tag 2 did it perfectly, preorder get these characters 3 months later, everyone gets those characters, plus a few more. For nothing.

ME3 did it wrong, preorder bonus was a special gun, I've never seen that special gun. Never will. DLC costs full price still and no GOTY edition. Screw them.

...this turned into a general DLC moan.

Hmm, pie.

I think the general problem is that consumers wait until sales or get games used, which means a lot let profit for the company, especially seeing as digital distribution means that sales can be over 50% just a month or two after the game is released. By bundling in exclusive content, they encoiurage people to get it at full price, and not to wait.

That being said, I wish that they just included physical goods (like an exclusive figurine or something), but companies would rather just give you digital goodies since it's cheaper, so I guess that's not gonna happen very often.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

In game preorder things like DLC weapons etc. Nay. A statue, that's fine.

i would be fine with them if every store got the same thing but having every store have something diff is just wrong

They always put it up couple of months later for sale online in psn.

I don't really remember the ME3 pre-order DLC, but I'm also pissed off that they still haven't put the DLC on sale. I was waiting for all of it to come out before I got back into that game. Still think it was a great game, but at this rate I'll probably never play the DLC

In general, I really dislike pre-order DLC. Half the time it is rubbish, but even when it is, it's so boring to have to activate the codes before you can play the game. I'd really rather just play the game

Anything that is purely cosmetic such different skins for weapons / costume is fine. Nothing that would effect gameplay should be ever a pre-order bonus (guns with different stats). Especially not 'bonus' levels / missions.

Nay. Nowdays, preorder bonus' are sh**. I remember back in the day when preorder bonus' were good though. The Xenosaga Movie DVD with the preorder of Xenosaga 2, Shadow Hearts with the preorder of Shadow Hearts Covenant, a pocket watch with one of the characters from the Arc the Lad series when preorder Arc the Lad Collection, etc, etc, etc.  Now days it's an hour of content, a weapon, an outfit, etc. Crap that should be on the disc rather than held back to entice preorders.

Although to be fair, I guess most of the preorder bonuses other than a free game or a free movie isn't really going to interest anyone.

Yay.... Most of the time.

There are 9 different Watch Dogs editions; are pre-orders going too far?

I'm against it. Mainly because I don't base my preorder patterns on the bonus offers. And uszally if I do get a bonus, I don't even use it, because it's mostly just cosmetic. I really couldn't care less if my character's clothes are brown instead of green, or similar things...
