Forums - Gaming Discussion - So Mario Kart 8 isn't going to help boost sales of the Wii U huh?

I'm sure it will definitly boost sales!

On that note... i got a Wii U today!! Zelda special edition. It was on the discounted price of 250 euros. :)

Around the Network

That's a hugely hyped up article, but it's nice to see something like that amongst all the doom and gloom I keep reading around the internet.

Mario Kart 8 is currently sitting at number 2 at Amazon UK's preorder charts, in between the PS4 and X1 Watchdogs. The limited edition bundle with the blue shell has been hovering at around 15 or 16. BUT - what's on your link doesn't mention any console sales. It only talks about the game, probably being bought by people who already own a Wii U...

The MK8 hardware bundle broke into the top 30 at Amazon UK's preorder charts today, but is still outside the top 200 of PC and Videogame sales. This is what we should be watching out for - if anyone can find out how well the hardware bundle is doing in their part of the world, then we might get a clearer indication.

Congrats on the purchase. It's definitely got the best games on the market!

Which i'm agreeing on. I'm just saying the boost won't be enough to be called a ressurgance.

It's not going to turn it into a Wii-like megabeast that'll sell 100m lifetime, but it'll be the best thing to happen to the system so far, barring the Christmas holidays of course.

I think the system will not reach 10 million this year though, even with the push this game will provide. Though i expect Mario Kart to play a bigger role in pushing the console sales in the holiday season actually. Nintendo games experience '"relaunches" in the holiday season, i guess it's all the parents buying stuff for their kids, which is something they've always had, even with the WiiU.

Nobody in their right mind thinks MK8 won't move hardware.

It will move hardware, but not a ressurgence. Not even close. The console won't see 100K per week, not even on launch week.

So let me get this straight. You actually believe that MK8 wont help move 100K Wii U's for it's launch week? Are you being serious?

At least read the article you're using to proof your point OP...

Do you see me laughing? Of course i'm serious. It's like you haven't seen the state of the console we're talking about!!

Mario Kart is a great game and It will definitely boost WiiU sales, just not the sales any of us may be expecting though. Lets not forget there are already more than 6 million WiiU owners out there. Im not going to give high expectations, my guess WiiU may pull not more than 300k this month and reduce in the coming months, this holiday is nintendos best moment tbh
