Are you trying to win 1st prize in a koolaid drinking contest?  Come on, it seemed you were making better arguments before.

I think "they do crazy things" has to be one of the worst arguments possible.

Let's wait and see if your theory turns out right before talking about it like it was a fact.

Considering most companies, if not all, don't ever reveal the minutae of their strategies, can we go by their E3 presence and late life console sales?  If Nintendo suddenly sustains a late system cycle of momentum, and E3 announces titles that have been secretly in development for some time now, can we agree that Nintendo was clearly waiting for the right time?

And I'd say the fact that Nintendo does crazy things is actually a pretty decent argument, we really never know what to expect with Nintendo, do we?

Looking at sales trends in Japan i'd say PS4 hype is dead and buried allready. So as far as Japan is concerned, your theory should be spot on. Of cource that could change when FFXV is released, but thats way in the future. Whats going to happen is that Nintendo will own Japan on both the home console front as well as the traditional handheld front in 2014. And it will begin with Mario Kart 8. After it's release the WiiU should remain ahead of PS4 in weekly sales for the rest of the year.

2015 will probably see 3rd party japanese publishers releasing big gun after big gun on the PS4 in an attempt to stop Nintendo from gaining too much power in that market.

Around the Network

They're already selling the Wii U no longer at a loss? That's pretty impressive. They might just fare better than the PS3's early years. With a lineup of "must have" titles, they can turn their fortune around pretty nicely.

That's not exactly the case:

"With respect to the impact of Wii U hardware sales on profit and loss, in order to sell 3.60 million units, we have to produce some more hardware units on top of our current hardware inventory. However, since the loss arising due to the hardware production costs being higher than our trade price was taken into account in the previous fiscal year, you could assume that there will be almost no loss this fiscal year for the sales of the 3.60 million hardware units."

So I guess smoke and mirrors accounting magic is just one of the "crazy things" to which zyro is referring.
