Thankfully I'm not a murderer because I send to the heaven goombas, moblins and metroids. Technically, not humans beings.

Risks of Astronomical Future Suffering

by Brian Tomasik

Summary

It’s far from clear that human values will shape an Earth-based space-colonization wave, but even if they do, it seems more likely that space colonization will increase total suffering rather than decrease it. That said, other people care a lot about humanity’s survival and spread into the cosmos, so I think suffering reducers should let others pursue their spacefaring dreams in exchange for stronger safety measures against future suffering.

and about the foundation:

The Foundational Research Institute (FRI) is a group of scholars and altruists working to explore crucial considerations for how to reduce suffering in humanity’s future. Founded in 2013, we serve as a platform to share perspectives on shaping future trajectories in positive directions, drawing from fields as diverse as mathematics, neuroscience, economics, international relations, psychology, and philosophy. In the future, we aim to hire researchers directly to explore new insights and coordinate with outside academics to leverage existing knowledge.

When I was a kid I used to think that killing people in video games was senseless and stupid, and for that reason I wasn't really interested in video games, but ironically now I've killed tons of things in video games...

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

When I was little, I would play Zoo Tycoon. I would put tigers in a gated area....Then remove the gate and watch the tigers kill all the people in the Zoo.

It was fun.

So... he says that it's immoral to kill some NPCs? Why does he think that? Did Random Pedestrian #5 from GTA 5 went personally to him after Trevor ran over him? Did he say how deranged the player was because of the mindless killing spree he did around the city? What's next? Are we all going to receive an arrest order on the next DLC? Pfft, gimme a break.

He might be doing a good work on his institution, but he should stay away from the videogames. Because at the end of the day, he's measuring how a NPC is suffering.

Well you kind of had to kill things in Zelda, Uncharted, GTA, Mario, Call of Duty, Angry Birds, Smash Bros., Kirby, Halo, etc.

NPCs are usually stupid so they deserve to die.
