The PS4 has recently reached 40% market share and it is outselling the XBox One and Wii U combined by a huge margin. The sales for the PS4 seem to be limited by its lack of supply. Surely it must only be a matter of time when the PS4 reaches 50% market share. The PS2 sold over 75% market share for 6th generation in its dominance over its competitors. 7th generation was even contest with PS3, XBox 360 and Wii all selling over 80 million consoles each with market shares between 30 to 38% respectively. 8th generation console sales war looks like a landslide win for the PS4 over its competitors again.

I pose the question to find out: When will the PS4 reach 50% total market share?

2015 at least and the reason being is that MK8 and SSB is coming out and I doubt people really want to get a ps4 for a last of us remake so unless Sony announces something at e3 or before, winter 2014 to 2015 I say

I would need to do some math, but if it's not realistically possible with current sales patern by October - November, then sometime next year, maybe Q1 - Q2, depending on games releasing.

Well, Sony has marketing deals for Watch Dogs, Destiny and Assassin's Creed: Unity, and there are strong rumors suggesting that Activision and Sony have partnered up for Call of Duty. I suspect 50 % will hit next year, and 55 % the year after.

When The Last Guardian of Us comes out of course!

I don't think it will ever reach 50%

People seem to expect a PS2 like domination but it won't happen. PS4 will lead by a good margin but won't trash everything like the PS & PS2.

It doesn't have a death grip on exclusive 3rd party games...
