The guy obviously needs to be disciplined, but his own family pursuing felony charges on him? Over a motorcycle? Those charges will ruin his life if he is found guilty...

This. Punishment a long time before this incident was needed.

I know this wasn't a 100% serious post but I was a cop and there was this one family that had a mentally unstable kid.  We kept going to his home and calming him down over the years (they called us when he acted up).  After a while, we stopped hearing from them or, if they did call, I wasn't working.  Anyway, we got a call to that residence one day only to find out that kid had gotten BIG!  Big and crazy are two things that don't belong together.  He had his family trapped in a room afraid to come out.  We had to restrain him, handcuff him, and I assume they had him committed.

There was a story where a cop shot and killed a kid like that a few months ago.  When a kid like that snaps, it's a scary thing.  It's like trying to reason with the Hulk.

Depression affects your physical and mental state. Mentally you'll not feel pleasure and feel helpless. Physically your body will ache, you'll be fatigued and lethargic, and you'll have insomnia.

Just because anxiey can be a symptom of depression doesn't mean it should be discounted. Distress and irrational behavior occur disproportionate to their cause - it's like a fight-or-flight response triggered by nonthreatening things. 

And if he had skipped/forgotten to take his medications for two days; it likely had a serious affect on his mood and actions, like irritability and irrational behavior.

He was only curious about physics in real life to compare them with GTA 5. How else should he know if they are accurate in the game?
