Forums - Gaming Discussion - If EA isn't Going to Sell Titanfall Publishing Rights to MS Then They are Probably Thinking About how to get the IP onto Playstation ASAP, so...

Titanfall Sigma

or

Titanfall 2 Prologue

I think EA figure that since MS dicked them around on DRM then they can dick MS around with Titanfall console exclusivity, so they are probably looking for a way to get the budding franchise onto PS as soon as the first wave of TF DLC has gone out.

A Titanfall Sigma approach would be largely the same game with a few superficial tweaks to make it not exactly the same.

A Titanfall 2 prologue approach would be different in campaign (possibly no campaign) but extremely similar multiplayer, with perhaps a new prototype Titan or some other new feature to giver it a sequel sort of vibe rather than just a port by another name.

What do you reckon? Are we going to see Titanfall on PS platforms in some way shape or form before Titanfall 2?

50/50 chance of it happening I reckon, but I think it's highly likely that EA is thinking about something like a sigma or prologue option.

But MS could make EA an offer it cant refuse for the publishing rights and that would be the end of it.

I thought PS fans didn't like Titanfall. So what would be the point?

Needs a campaign for me to be interested in this.

Exactly. Id rather let them work on making titanfall 2 better and just bring that to PS4 and I might try it.

But then again, its EA. If they can get half a million sales and introduce the IP to PS4 with a cheap port, they will.

Deliver same game under the name titansmall

Something I actually don't like is stupid generalizations.

OP, I doubt they'll be able to fast-track it like that.  The contract is probably water tight for this thing considering all the money and time MS have spent pushing it.

I'm gonna say something you obviously arent aware of.

EA does not own the titanfall IP. Respawn does. So, they would have to buy respawn before they could do any selling.

On the other hand, EA was the one who made the final call on MS exclusivity, so it makes me wonder exactly how much control Respawn has on it's own property.

As a PC gamer I can't say I care much but I do think it would be a shame for PS4 gamers to not experience Titanfall.

EA owns the publishing rights, and they can sell those rights on if they wish. Respawn could try to buy themselves out of being published by either EA or whomever EA sells the rights to. But they wouldn't because they can't offer EA anough money, and whoever would buy the publishing rights off EA would not then sell those rights to Respawn for less.

I don't know, a majority of the Playstation community on the internet always said that they don't care about Titanfall. If I would be EA I would do what I also do with Wii U and wouldn't release my game on a platform where most say that they don't want my game.

Joke aside we don't even know how the contract between EA and MS looks like so that I think waiting is better as to speculate something new every day.
