The Trine 2 and DKC comparisons got me thinking...

What if Retro and Frozenbyte teamed up for a 2D Metroid?

Retro doesn't need their help, they did the game based on the kind of art style that they felt the game should have had in accordance to Nintendo.

It looks better but they forgot that gameplay is more important especially in such a game. I found the game very boring and always felt as if all they really cared about was to get a great looking result. Still didn't finish it and I tried it pretty often but couldn't handle more than maybe 15 minutes.

Indie devs are really showing Nintendo that they arent the only masters of the 2D/platformer genre. Its crazy that Sony and Microsoft arent giving Nintendo a run for their money there, but rather the indies are doing the work for them.

Na Nintendo is still the true master, Trine 2's actual game play isn't as good as DK, graphics wise though, I'm pretty sure people can beat Nintendo on that pretty easily these days.

No, I've seen plenty of other 2D games outside of a Nintendo console that are great. Indie games are amazing. Nintendo is good to have for its flare but it no longer stands alone.

I would say they are just different. It is nearly like a comparison between the Wind Waker and Skyrim or so.

I don't hate Microsoft, I don't hate PC,
I don't prefer Sony, I don't prefer Nintendo.
...Ok, I love Nintendo but this is something about tolerance, ok?

I'm a gamer with one of the greatest hobbies and I want to share this greatness with everyone.

The only one in recent memory that I think is somewhat up to that level is Super Meat Boy which is an awesome game, the other ones are mostly clones or nowhere as good, I haven't tried Shovel Knight yet, I'll give that a go when I get a chance.

wow im surprised ppl saying Trine2 by far..
obviously has more detail and flashy visuals, but technically DK looks like a much more complex game, running at 60fps and doing more things per frame

The 3D on Trine 2 PS4 is amazing.

Have you already gotten that far into the game Spurge? We should link up and play this, I haven't gotten far at all in it.

Trine prob looks better, but Donkey Kong is a smooth 60fps and i also like Donkey Kongs animations better.
