Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Buzz: Why is Nintendo afraid to do what they know they must do?

A zelda game with Assassin's creed type mechanics would be cool.

I am actually quite content with what they are putting out. I do understand others though.
I hope they sort everything out for their next console.

All I want from Ninty is an open world Zelda for Wii U that has mechanics and exploration similar to Skyrim. A military FPS with a great story and great online similar to the fast paced CoD and environment like BF4 and vehicles and weapons similar to those of Halo.

The Zelda game will be great for Nintendo fans and the FPS will cause so much hype that the internet will blow up and 50 percent of gamers will buy a Wii U just for the FPS. HAHAHAHA

OP says for Nintendo to "Give us back our Nintendo of Old".....even though the Nintendo of old made mostly linear, 2D side scrolling games...............

Logic remains absolute aboard the internets......

Thr WiiU was just poorly designed, end of story. Why include a tablet into the mix? All they need is a controller and console. But they basically did the same thing as xb1, adding to cost by adding features that few care about.

Look, Nintendo has a lot of life left, but they're gonna have to quit making stupid consoles. Hope I'm not too blunt here

Super Mario world. That had exploration...back in the day. You all remember all the secrets? That was there limitation. There is none now, so what is the excuse?

So, all Mario games should be an improved version of Super Mario 64? Super Mario 64 might have set the standards a bit too high, but I do expect a similar game in the near future.

People are getting distracted by the open world demand. While nice to have, that won't increase sales.

The real sentiment from this article is about game ambition. Super Mario 64 was the best technology and game design could provide at the time anywhere in the world. Mario 3D World is super safe in all regards (technology, themes, visuals, design) and doesn't push anything. Same for LTTP against Link Between Worlds.

The best Wii U game is Lego City Undercover because at least it ACTUALLY TRIED.

its not like they are afraid of doing more ambitious games, they simply just cant do it, think about it... how much time do they need to make it happen? we all know that game droughts on nintendo systems are very common so making dev time larger will hurt the system.

The Wonderful 101 tried. It's hard to find a more unique, ambitious action game these days.

It did, but it made no concession to anyone who isn't totally on board with it from the first look.

The N64 Nintendo was under a different boss and he wasn't afraid to take risks, spend tons of money and compete head on. Iwata is much more conservative. That's why things have changed.
