The real sentiment from this article is about game ambition. Super Mario 64 was the best technology and game design could provide at the time anywhere in the world. Mario 3D World is super safe in all regards (technology, themes, visuals, design) and doesn't push anything. Same for LTTP against Link Between Worlds.

The best Wii U game is Lego City Undercover because at least it ACTUALLY TRIED.

The Wonderful 101 tried. It's hard to find a more unique, ambitious action game these days.
