Forums - Gaming Discussion - UPDATED: So I've completed Thief and I like it.

OP: How does it compare to Dishonored? The previous Thief titles were very slow-paced and it fit the settings and mechanics really well, the reboot seems to have gone for the action route. And how is it without the brilliant Stephen Russell as the voice of Garrett?

Good. I want a stealth game to actually force you to be stealthy... Unlike Assassin's Creed.

You can 1 man army through that game like nothing.

haha I love AC but this is very true. Then again I never really though of them as stealth games. I see it more like metal gear solid a nice attempt but not really s stealth game.

Assassin's Creed is ridiculous. I tried to see how many I could down in AC3 without dying so I started a huge fight down by the docks in Boston. After about 100-120 kills, I couldn't be arsed to carry on and simply loaded my game. The counter-attack system is the most overpowered and unbalanced fighting mechanic I've seen in any game I've ever played and you can basically go on a godlike murder spree in the very beginning of the game if you want to.

Yea its the counter system that makes you a god. You basically just have to wait. I will admit that the newer games did make it harder with the addition of guns. You have to watch out and make sure they don't shoot you also.

Unless it suddenly gets real shitty... I think it may have been under rated by some publications. So even though I am enjoying it, I'm gonna keep an open mind about it being garbage.

I've been playing it on 360 by the way because its easier to rent a 7th gen version. It looks good, average 7th gen graphics and runs surprisingly well.

What kind of gameplay is it? If you had to describe it in a sentence or two.

I'm enjoying it myself. Most of the negatives are minor in my view, and I'm glad it harkens back to older ways of stealth - which is part of why it got poor reviews.

You just came with low expectations. Everything becomes better that way. Personally I won't bother with Thief, especially as I didn't like Deux Ex Human Revolution very much.

I feel the main media is giving this bit too much cold shoulder mostly cause the game itself isn't exactly AAA-type game that makes you feel awesome in combat.

Lot of critism seems to come out from the fact that you are not playing an avatar of combat that can easily just fight his way out of every single situation like in assassin's creed without breaking a sweat.

I really like that combat is hard. I personally don't like the very linear gameplay myself though, all the areas I've seen tend to be very narrow corridors with like one possible optimal route if you spot it/use it.

^^ so what,I love ac and I'm not looking for a challenge when playing the game. I just beat the new one and it was pretty easy, but the brutes were a pain in the ass, that why smoke bombs were my best friend. The only times I died in the game,is when I got detected, when you could'nt.

there not the same game at all. deux ex human revolution was a good game, but I just got tired of it for some reason and never bothered to finish it.
