Some early adopters pay hundreds more than retail just to get the console. Those guys were not only slapped in the face, they were slapped in the face with a big cock.

Well I guess me and my ebay account did some big cock slapping.

I expected this all along. Didnt the PS3 experience provide evidence that consumers really dont get pissed about this sort of thing. The PS3 dropped $100 per year the 1st 3 years of its existence. Did you see some sort of huge backlash? Nope.

I said MS knows they will sell every console at launch. So they launched at $500. Now they need to adjust for 2014, and I dont see this as the only adjustment. Six months from now when Titanfall has been out for awhile. MS will modify the pricing/software given away for the end of the year.

We have all known for a long time that purchasing a new console at launch really isnt the brightest thing to do money wise.  Game are usually not that great and you will have a lull of software shortly after launch. Every generation the same and many of us still do it. I bought 2 Xbox Ones. One for the house and one for my son away at school. Do I regret it. Nope. I knew price cuts would happen.  I knew software update would happen.  Finally if it has been the PS4 instead I would say the same thing.  $400 per console for what the PS4 gave people at launch wasnt worth it either.  Still isnt.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

You did see big backlash, but it wasn't from the early adopters, it was from people who purchased the system after each price drop.  People who were upset that they couldn't get a hardware backwards compatible PS3 or later a software backwards comptiable model.  Those people were waiting for a price drop which screwed them out of getting something only the early adopters have access to.

Really never saw the press talk about it. Never saw the press claim it cost Sony sales.  A few complainers on gaming forums does not make a backlash.
