I disagree.

On VGChartz, it actually seems like your opinion is the popular one. But I hate Super Mario Galaxy 2. It's my least favorite 3D Mario game by a landslide. And I thought it needed more water levels. It only had 2 that I can think of.

I do not agree. The first game had a more compelling atmosphere to me; the music was more emotive, there were more epic celestial backdrops as opposed to the blander blue skies in #2, colour palette leant more towards richer shades as opposed to the bright primary colours of #2, the hub was cooler, and the story/setup was more epic.

Plus, #1 was mind blowing for its time while #2 arriving years later had less of a wow factor.

Still the two best games of the 7th gen though.

OT: I don't think I can add much more to this, but I did enjoy the first Super Mario Galaxy more than the second. The second clearly had improvements, but the first was so fresh and crisp. Like a new car.

i did felt that 2 was more linear kinda like the Mario 3Dland/world.
but i think it was better just because it had more levels, more varied that made the game feel more dynamic.

Good. I'm hoping to buy it soon.
