Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ubisoft have done a better job with the Gamepad than anyone else, even Nintendo

Agree?

Yes, they've used it the best so far 57 90.48%

No, another dev has made better use of it 5 7.94%

Total:62

Games like ZombiU, Rayman Legends, and Splinter Cell all use the Gamepad in interesting ways, while outside of Nintendoland other devs have largely ignored its potential.

Do you agree, or do you think someone else has used it better than Ubisoft?

From what I've seen yeah, they have done a great job. It's a shame it never caught on even with Nintendo but let's see if Ubi does something cool with Watch_Dogs.

Edit: double post, damn internet keeps falling out.

I think Nintendo Land is the best example of how to use the GamePad in fun and interesting ways, but overall, yes, Nintendo hasn't really used it to its full potential.

That's software, mind you. In terms of Miiverse, browser, and overall OS, I think Nintendo scored a home run with the GamePad.

Haven't played the games, but it does look like that yes.

Super Mario 3D World barely uses the gamepad. Which is understandable considering the game needs to be playable with more than one person.

Pikmin 3 has multiple controller options as well. The superior option seems to be the Wiimotion controller with a nunchuck. Although the gamepad comes in handy because it displays the map.

Zelda: Wind Waker HD greatly improves the control of the game with the gamepad, but doesn't use it in an innovative way. Which shouldn't be a surprise considering it's a remake. Still, it's Nintendo's best use of the gamepad outside Nintendoland.

New Super Mario Bros. U also barely makes use of the gamepad. Except some gimmicky options like creating blocks to help/hinder the other player.

ZOMBI U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

love it

I agree when it comes to games. Ubisoft have a good Wii U track record. I'm quite surprised Nintendo haven't used it a much as could be expected.

Wonderful 101 and Lego City Undercover use the Gamepad pretty well.

Deus Ex Human Revolution did a wonderful job with the Gamepad, so you can add Square Enix.

About DKC: Tropical Freeze..

"One element that I do have to bring up is how the Wii U GamePad is used. If you are playing on the television, the touchscreen will have nothing displayed on it and it stays blank the entire time. There are no options to quickly select levels or see simple information displayed. If you are going for off-TV play, it is the same deal as nothing will be displayed on the television. It is not the worst thing ever, but it made me want to use the GamePad less and that can't be what Nintendo and Retro Studios wanted."

Another (Nintendo) game that barely uses it...Mario 3D World not only barely uses the Gamepad, but the reason you have to use it sometimes is completely unnecessary and annoying, imo.I´m perfectly fine playing with the Pro controller and all of a sudden the game makes me use the damn pad just for what?Touch a platform to raise it?...blow into the Gamepad mic?...get outta here with that crap.

If that´s what we can expect, then this thing is only an albatross hanging around the system´s neck, dragging it down.
