Forums - Sony Discussion - With Bungie’s Destiny etc. coming, PS3 has an impressive and varied library from literally all notable third party developers

With Destiny releasing later this year, Bungie joins the family of first, second and third party developers making games for PlayStation 3. In the past generation I enjoyed many hours with my Xbox 360 and Wii, but nothing beat the time I spend with my PS3. Not even PC. And that's because of its varied game library that I think has become quite impressive.

At first, I didn't like the ps3 at all... It was overly expensive and had shit games... Now I think its the best system of the 7th gen... (Not the best selling system btw, just the best system in terms of varied games) It is quite impressive and that list shows how impressive the ps3 really was at the end

Yeah. I feel the exact same way. I favored the 360 to begin with and then enjoyed the Wii, but for the last 4-5 years nothing beat the PS3 for me.

PS3 has probably the most diverse lineup in gaming history. For example, the PS2 had tons of great games, but no big hit first person shooters outside of Medal of Honor, and had almost no WRPGs. The PS3 had games like Call of Duty 4, Killzone 2, Resistance series, Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, Fallout 3, etc. etc.

I have to say the PS3 became a pretty good system even after its stumbling out of the gate.

Dont see Disney Interactive Studios/LucasArts/EA up there some pretty nice star wars games for the PS3

Yes! Someone said it x} I agree.. The only genre I hear people miss in the PS3 library is JRPG, but still there are quite a few notable titles (I know not all are strictly JRPGs just because they're made in Japan). A single Legend of Dragoon would've been nice though:

OP:

Atlus Persona Team: Persona
Capcom: Dragon’s Dogma + Monster Hunter
Cavia: Nier
Crypton Future Media: Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA
From Software: Enchanted Arms + Demon's Souls + Dark Souls
Game Republic: Folklore
Gust: Atelier + Ar tonelico + Trinity Universe
Idea Factory: Mugen Souls + Neptunia + Cross Edge + Agarest
Level-5: Ni no Kuni + White Knight Chronicles
Namco Tales Studio: Tales (Symphonia + Vesperia + Graces f + Xilia + Xilia 2 + Zestiria)
Neverland: Rune Factory
Nippon Ichi Software: Disgaea + The Witch and the Hundred Knight
Omega Force: Trinity: Souls of Zill O’ll
Sega: Valkyria Chronicles
Square Enix: Final Fantasy + Kingdom Hearts HD
tri-Ace: Resonance of Fate + Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Tri-Crescendo: Eternal Sonata

Oh, of course SW: The Force Unleashed. Thanks. Played that. EA is listed as Electronic Arts.

Don't think I've actually played a single Disney game this generation. A little Split/Second and Epic Mickey 2 perhaps.. Any Disney game you can recommend? Is Disney Infinity worth anything?

Atlus: Catherine + Persona + Dragon’s Crown

Atlus isn't a developer, it's a publisher. The Atlus Persona Team is the developer of Catherine and Persona. Dragon's Crown was made by Vanillaware.

Meanwhile, Marvelous is not on your list. Marvelous are behind Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, and Soul Sacrifice, to name a few, and the only game they published on PS3 was a Rune Factory developed by Neverland Co. The developer behind Harvest Moon, a developer that must be called "notable", has not made a PS3 game.

There are other, similar cases, where notable third-party developers have not made games for the PS3, but I only need to provide one to demonstrate the point. The point is that you're using circular logic - you're defining "notable third-party developer" by "made a quality game for the PS3". There's really no need to invoke grandiose claims, when you can make your key point without needing those claims. "PS3 has a broad, varied lineup of quality games, including games from most third-party developers" is more than sufficient to make the point you want to make.

Thanks for clarifying Atlus. Will correct. Listed them under Sega because they're owned by Sega.

I don't really know what you're saying.. The list includes the games I've tried this gen and the games that I find notable. Why include a developer that "has not made a PS3 game"?

I seek advice on which PS3 games I've missed and should try before moving on to PS4.. Is Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny one of them?

Really loving the support PS3 is getting - especially when it comes to jRPGs, I made the right choice!

JRPGs are not my strongest genre but I try most of the ones getting localized and loving some of them. Namco is just spoiling us with 6 "Tales of" games on the PS3 alone. :D Tried Vesperia (import), Graces f and Xilia. Symphonia, Xilia 2 and Zestiria have yet to come to the UK..
