Forums - Gaming Discussion - Did Xbox lose every advantage it had?

As a X1 fan, I can't deny PS4 is the superior machine.

However, X1 still won me on games. Some advantages are subjective.

This.....coupled with my preference of the NFL, MS Exclusives, Live superiority, controller, and my Daughters love of Kinect makes the XBox One superior in my household.  Several of my older friends who have tried my XBox One since launch have made the jump over PS4 based on availability during the holiday here in the US even at a higher price point.

This is all based on my own personal opinion and experience however.  I am an older gamer (as well as many of my friends) and into the vast functionality the XBox One provides.  It is an impressive system even when compared to some of the superior hardware features in the PS4.  Not enough to sway my opinion though......games that are as impressive as Ryse and Forza don't have me doubting the XBox One at all!

Sales and recent hiring trends by MS make the future look bright!

Every single goddam one. Early launch? Gone. Low price? It got MORE expensive. Lightning fast installs and updates? How about lightning slow. Yeah, that doesn't make any sense. I don't give a fuck. Better third party games? Not anymore. Oh well. Enough rehashing the OP.

And what did it gain? Picture in picture? My Vizio from 2010 could do that. If Microsoft doesn't manage to put out the more mindblowing games than Sony, they totally blew it this gen. I still want an Xbox One (when the good games come out) and I think the 360 was the far superior console compared to the clunky PS3 but Microsoft really fucked up this time.

Yup.

Incredibly, there are still people who don't do their research (or simply don't care about this stuff) and still buy the XB1 instead of PS4.

Most people don't care about hardware capabilities. Most powerful hardware of the gen =/= sales. People buying Xbox One's at this point in time is because of brand loyalty, upcoming exclusives (Halo) and because of Gamerscore and Xbox friends etc. It's not as simple as, 'oh, PS4 is the better consoler hardware wise, I'm going to buy that console', otherwise the Wii would have not won last gen

it lost all of it's advantages...

...but other than $100 it didn't really pick up disadvantages.

launch at the same time (more or less) instead of a year head start. controllers are basically both awesome. both have a pay-to-play online service. multiplats, by-and-large, will look the same for most people or at least close enough.

xbone will do fine enough but ps4 will probably "win" if these US/UK numbers hold. but whatever,. multiplats will still get ported over.

Man, I feel the exact opposite way about vita and 3ds (though I have both). 3ds has the better games, but psvita has won me on hardware.

OT: I agree. I don't see xbone turning things around (not that they aren't doing great, just being at a disadvantage at the moment) unless they come up with something that attracts casuals like an innovative kinect game.

PS4 won the war everywhere.

More games coming.
Cheaper.
Better System.
Much more sales.  ( the Japan release will end the war )

Free games with PS+

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m
