I do agree that the Wii was better than the Wii U. I never said good sales necessarily = bad quality, haha.

@Bold I know that but atleast nontheless you do agree with me that bad sales = bad quality, right ? If rol thinks that the WII U is trash then I'm in the same boat as he is LOL.

Not always, I can think of a lot of good games that didn't sell well.

Oh well, it was worth trying to convince you though. I don't think master sean malstrom would have changed your mind.

Dumbed down gameplay like mario?

Gaming won't die, it's just being dragged in the wrong direction, with cinematic storytelling, gratuitous violence, and masturbatory graphical spectacle too often prioritized over gameplay.

Can you prove this?

Now, we're seeing the trend of releasing unfinished products with the promise of a patch, dlc for content that should have already been in the final product, and a bunch micro transactions that give us incomplete gaming experiences. Nintendo on the other hand gives us complete experiences on the other hand with any dlc being a bonus rather than an essential part to the game. Nintendo also gives us a complete product on day one and is still willing to delay their products to ensure that.

...

Wii U wasn't complete on day one...

There are many success factors to the industry.  Delivering great products is important.  Being early/on time to market is also important.

I think it's funny how some see N as being the Jesus of gaming, when the Wii+DS boom was in no small part fueled by games like Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Brain Age, and a lot of Pokemon.  Wii Fit titles sold over ~43 million units versus ~11 million units of SM Galaxy or SSMB.  The top 6 or 7 selling Nintendo games on Wii are really mediocre games.

Too much credit for N for the commercial success they had with ultra casual games.

I would rather play (as in gameplay) Uncharted 2 than anything Nintendo produced in the last 10 years*.

*And I don't mean I don't like any Nintendo games.  I like many Nintendo games a lot too, but I think Sony's 1st party has made some better games.  I'd be more sad if Sony to stopped than for Nintendo to stop, because then there would be nobody to compete on MS level.

This aint to every Nintendo fan. But alot of them keep sayin how HD is killing gaming and we are heading for a crash. I am sorry but that would not be said if Nintendo knew how to produce a modern console.

The PS3 did crap at a time. 360 did crap at a time. None of their fanbases said anything about a gaming crash. Its like with the Wii you got entitled and without a nintendo boom the gaming industry will die?

That train of thought seems silly to me as Sony has kept the console world alive for well over 17 years. I say 17 because we were still enjoying our megadrives and snes's at the time. Nintendo has more than filled up our boots for handheld systems.

I just employ you to see reason and stop complaining about gaming is dead.

Actually a lot of you newer members should look at historical data. You will realise that a generation is a very long time. A lot of things can happen.

Discuss.......

Well if you look at the generations that have passed. Both Sony and MS look up to Nintendo in innovations. Without Nintendo whos going to innovate? The PS5 and XB2 will come out just more powerful systems. People will get sick of it. The gaming industry needs something new all the time or people will consider playing Tablet and Mobile games.

Analog sticks, Rumble Feautures, L-R Buttons, Motion Controls, Touch Screen Controls, Real TIme 3D Worlds etc all came from Nintendo. Nintendo might not be doing that great with the WiiU however look at the 3DS and its innovations compared to the Vita which is just a massive graphic jump from its previous system. Nintendo's  Next Gen console will surely innovate again to keep the buisness rolling. Sony and MS will watch and follow. Again.

This is sentimentally what the OP is getting at. Not only are some of bolded incorrect, but you'd have to be extremely naive to say those would never have come to fruition without Nintendo. Or that Sony and Microsoft haven't brought anything to the table with their respective machines and all they do is beef up the horsepower. C'mon now...

Why do you think Nintendo fans are saying this?

I've seen a few (very few) statements that say the industry might die if Nintendo left the industry but never heard anyone say the industry would die simply because Nintendo isn't leading it.

Well... I doubt the gaming industry would die if Nintendo isn't #1... It might die if Nintendo leaves the gaming industry however...

And HD isn't killing the gaming industry... Its Endless amount of Microtransactions for $60 games, Shit ton of DLC and all these extra fees that people have to pay that they originally didn't and they don't have too much of an option to not pay them is whats killing the gaming industry...

Eventually people will realise... this is too much... and just stop buying games

With inflation, $60 today is like $45 during PS2 days.  Games have higher production value and cost less today.  It's hard to immagine gaming will die.  As an industry it's expanding.  The format & distribution on pc/console/handheld/mobile/browser/streaming will keep changing though.

With the inflation of Zimbabwe, then yes. The 'PS2 days' were just a decade ago.

And wow you have some amazing lurking skills.

Oh, and I consider myself a Nintendo fan, and I don't think I've ever stated anything similar as the thing the OP says. I reckon the title of this thread could be changed.

I think you are assuming much. I have not seen anything of the sort, so you might aswell name those who did so they can defend themselves.

A decade is a significant period for inflation.  In US the official inflation is over 26% since 2000.

In Zimbabwe it's 10000000000000000000000000000% inflation ;)

I agree. OP should list names so the suspects can be publicly humiliated for our amusement. I'm actually being serious.
