Forums - Gaming Discussion - Should I sell my vita for a 3ds XL?

I think its dumb if you do sell it. The smart thing to do is to keep it, and buy a 3DS. This way you'll have both. Before you do all of that you need to first look up the 3DS games first to see if you'll like them.

What games do you have for PS Vita anyways?

Get the 3DS XL but don't trade in your Vita. You never know when you might want another one. The Vita2000 doesn't have dat OLED, just LED and it's a noticeable difference.

What you should do is sign up for PS+. If you have a PS3 you'll get games for that as well. The reason I say this is you make mention that you're interested in Mario Kart 7. Sonic & Racing All Star Transformed is one of the free Vita games this month. You can still get Soul Sacrifice and Hotline Miami. Uncharted, Gravity Rush, and Wipeout 2048 will be available even if you don't sign up now.

*edit*

I have both 3DS and Vita.  If there's an exclusive for either one of them that I'm interested in, I'll buy it.  If it's a PSVita/3DS game, I'll make my decision on better graphics or 3D effect.  Both systems are almost equal when it comes to quality exclusives in my opinion.  Just as I think that the 3DS has some overrated games, I think the Vita has some overrated games as well.  Killzone Mercenary is a pretty game, but that 78 on Metacritic is way too high.  2/10 in my opinion.

Do whatever you want to do. You know you have to live with the consequence, no1 has to suffer your pain or die your death.

Decide for yourself, People never have to suffer consequnces for what they advise.

I hope everyone sells there vita for 3ds, but seriously do whatever you want to do. if you miss the 3ds games or miss the vita its you who has to suffer, never should a gamer listen to what others have to say.

Especially not if their name is Jason Rubin

Do you have a PS4 console?

If you do I recommend keeping the PS Vita and waiting on the 3DS.

This is the Game of Thrones

Where you either win

or you DIE

How many 3ds games are you interested in? If there is at least a handful you definitely want I would say go for it. Especially if some of them have high replayablitiy.

If you are not enjoying your system there is no reason to keep it. Even if a few years down the line the vita ends up getting some great games you want to try, you will definitely be able to buy one used for cheaper than what you can sell yours for now. Heck with how poorly the vita is selling, you might even be able to buy one new for cheaper than it is today.

Just as an example I did something similar to this a few years ago. I sold my 360 2 and a half years ago for 200bucks when I realized I was hardly using it. There are a handful of exclusive games I'm interested in that came out since then. I will be able to buy all those games and a used xbox for probably under $100 when I have the time to play through them. This advice goes for any console/handheld. Prices are going down quickly for everything.  Especially for the less successful gaming systems. So if you aren't using it, you will make some extra money selling it even if you rebuy your system a few years down the line.

You can buy a 2DS for 99-129 dollars in most places, and at Walmart right now you can get an actual 3DS for 169.99 plus a 40 dollar gift card.

Are you sure you like Nintendo, and handheld gaming? If you actually do not, then just forget about it. But if you like to be zany from time to time, then yes.

Lol. I actually sold my PS3 so I can afford the Vita. Then I bought my PS3 back (the same one) at a discount so it worked out for me. Even if I'm not particularly interested in what the 3DS is offering (which is why I'm hesitant to buy it) - it has mario kart and smash bros. My PS vita has been collecting dust since I beat Guacamele and Persona 4 golden (when it was free on ps plus) and they haven't shown me anything at all for next year.

I believe the sale on the 3ds xl I'm considering also comes with a 40 dollar gift card and a free game for 200 dollars (or alternatively the 3ds xl by itself for 150).

I still have another week to think about what I want to do... I'm just trying to weigh my options and get other people's opinions before I make another dumb mistake, like when I sold my PS3 to get the Vita.

I would recommend keeping the Vita, especially if you have, or plan to get, PS4 and PS+.

If you only want one handheld going forward, however, go with 3DS.

On the whole the 3DS is better, it has more games overall and arguably better. In my opinion the ar 3DS is looking to have a better next year, has good libary as of now, and can play DS games. The Vita is good but unless they start bringing over Japanese games I'd get the 3DS.

I would actually say no, because the Vita is current gen and you never know what may come out on it. It looks like slim picking for 2014 but SCEJ is focusing on the Vita and we haven't heard from Gio and his localization group.

If the 3DS XL is expensive and you need to sell another device to get it, why not go with a standard 3DS its very affordable now. That way you have both systems.

Heck, if my bro didn't get a 3DS as a gift. I would have purchased a 2DS already which is more cheaper.

If you're going to wait until the XL drops to $150, you may be waiting a long, long time. It's the most successful dedicated gaming system on the market, they're not going to drop the price anytime soon, I'd think.
