Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Play.com owner Rakuten says that WiiU and iPad are "the most talked about presents for children this Christmas”.

Based on their own Twitter analysis, Rakuten said the Wii U and iPad are “the most talked about presents for children this Christmas”.

Here's What HE Said:

“The marketplace’s social media analysis surprisingly showed that the brand new PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles are trailing in second and third place respectively behind the Wii U and iPad.

This is despite the fact that both new consoles sold out on Rakuten’s Play.com during Black Friday, which have since been restocked. It appears that those on the hunt for the latest consoles are gamers rather than consumers buying for their loved ones.”

WiiU sales saw a 75% increase Month-on-Month during October ((on Play.com) in case that was not obvious) and the company expects the WiiU to dominate PS4 and XB1 this christmas and says that PS4 having stock issues will give WiiU another advantage

bet with ash3336 he wins if Super Mario 3D World sells less than Mario Sunshine during the first three years, I win if 3D World outsells Sunshine's first 3 years. Loser get sig controlled for 3 months (punishment might change)

Do you doubt the WiiU? Do you believe that it won't match the GC?

Then come and accept this bet

Yeah

I sadly know nothing about christmas sales trends and all so i don't know how much sales this Twitter analysis will translate to

WiiU is much more geared towards children than PS4 or XB1...Doesn't his statement go without saying?

Well Nintendo has always been the go-to console for children. But it certainly isn't the mass appeal console like the Wii

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Give it time Sales^ and it will pull a 3DS. Go to any store and you will see some casual/shovelware finally starting to come out for the 3DS. Luckily it has not hit us hard yet. Hopefully Nintendo has some quality control this time around like they promised. Promised us and 3rd parties.

I would like to say I agree with this. But want to put out there that the 3DS is talked about much more.

I believe that the survey did not include either the 3DS nor the Vita

No matter what people say about rising age of gamers, the money is with the kids. That is the best news ever

1. Play.com is a British website. We all know how the WiiU is doing there. A 75% increase isn't enough to make any meaningful difference.
2. Rakuten, the "new" owner of the site is a Japanese company. Of course their own social media analysis shows that WiiU is wanted more this Christmas than PS4 and Xbox One, because they aren't even releasing this year in Japan.

We'll see.

Wii U in November was 1/2 of what PS360 were in their 2nd XMAS. For this to be true then Wii U needs to sell ~2m+ in December.
