Forums - Gaming Discussion - Games look better on Xbox One compared to PS4?

pezus said:

One fans will say there is virtually no difference until their noses bleed. That is fine and all, but the reality is different

This is why I'll be glad when the 2nd and 3rd round of games come out.  There will be no denying it anymore and there won't be anymore threads like this.  Well, at least as far as 1st party titles go.  MS may try and pull off a parity deal again this gen, so we'll have to see how mulitplats play out in the future.

Probably just different settings like how my PS3 is darker than my 360 by default. I wouldn't say either looks better or worse. Just slightly different. If I were playing PS4, left the room, and came back to find the Xbox One version of any game, I wouldn't know the difference.

The  you have serious eye issues are are in denial. The diff in res alone is huge....Aliasing alone is a major difference.

Arr arr!

Hey, if it's a big deal to you, so be it.  You've zeroed in on this one thing and now it's the end all for you.  Native 1080p vs. Native 720p upscaled to 1080p.  Not an issue for me.  Sorry.

Not being an issue foir you is not the same as there not being a significant IQ difference.  Upscaled Does nothing for image quality, if anything it makes it worse, it's still 720p.

You really in your feelings bra.

No.

I wasnt talking about all games. My post wasnt meant to be disingenuous.

At the beginning of the gen...360 multiplat games were superior to PS3 versions. Later on the difference became less of an issue. Atleast for the last two or three years most of digital foundry articles have either been a draw or a slight win to 360 and on the rare occasion a win to the PS3. And ive read just about every digital foundry article.

Even in the worst case scenario...a game like Bayonetta where the PS3 version was shit. There was never really a difference like we have now. Where games are running at almost double the res and in some cases with higher fps as well. Theoretically speaking we probably have the biggest discrepancies in power we have ever seen on consoles.

The GPU's in the consoles are simply in different classes. Thats why some games are running at double the res on PS4 so quickly. Its not because it cant be done on the X1 its just that its that easy to get it working on PS4. And why wouldnt it be? Its a glorified HD7860 (i made that up! but you should ge the point).

I kinda knew this was gonna happen though. PS fans were always going to blow a difference like this out of proportion and to follow it up MS fans would simply call bullshit. This just happens to be the one time where PS fans arent talking shit even if they are... -_-

Edit: Kinda went off track there but my point is that if you try the bolded...you will see the difference. It will be obvious. And if you play at a higher res all the time you wont go back. No one goes back.

Ever!?  I'm gonna leave this thread because tech stuff just isn't my forte but still.....ever??

Don't you remember the days when Nes versions of games had to be single player while Master System versions were two player because the Nes was just too weak?  Or when the Genesis version of games had no voices and missed half of the color or frames of animation of their Super Nes counterpart because, aside from the processor, the Genesis was so limited?  Or when, during the 6th gen, PS2 and Gamecube versions of games like Splinter Cell had to have the levels re-designed because the Xbox was so much more powerful (Yeah, people say it was a tie between the 'Cube and the Xbox but there were too many examples of the Gamecube version being short changed).

I think one version looking a little sharper than the other is virtually a non-existent gap in power.  When the Xbox One version of games start having less characters on screen or start missing effects, THEN we can talk.  As it stands, both versions of multi-plats on PS4/XBO offer the exact same experience barring any exclusivity deals.

They dont offer the same experience........Resolution is  a better experience and so is better performance.   If you dont care about graphics differences why are you posting in a thread about them?

Which is why I'm leaving.

*kisses you*

See ya later!

Dont go d21 you are my favourite poster you are right about this resolution thing i take it all back!

All of those games look worse on the X1 and there's no getting past around that. Early on this generation 1080p should be a standard for console gaming and the X1 fell short of it as well as the WII U. As a PC gamer I'm not impressed by either of the consoles especially by the fact that the most powerful console so far couldn't run BF4 in 1080p.

chef read before you post, fifa being identical doesn't count ?....

What about FIFA 14 ? I realize that some games achieve parity but overall the X1 will be cursed with a lower resolution because of it's ROPS and bandwidth limitation.

How about a bet that Titanfall will be 720p on X1, eh ?

If it will it will still look damn impressive

Are you gonna take up the bet or not ?

100% agree.

Difference may not be as big as some ps fans make it out to be but the difference is there. Its nothing like last gen where games were literally identical except for different gamma.

Also, have either of you two done the bolded?

"If I were playing PS4, left the room, and came back to find the Xbox One version of any game, I wouldn't know the difference."

I switch between my pc and console all the time and the difference is huge.

Dont let the fanboys detract from facts.

It's his experience against yours. People see things differently.

They are talking about a hypothetical experience which neither of them have done. I have actually done it.

Also this isnt about opinion really...going from 720p to 1080p is a pretty big difference in image quality. And it is perceivable to the human eye.

Whether or not it bothers someone is where the opinion comes in.

Edit: I just realised you are happydolphin. Please dont quote me again. I have no interest in having a discussion with you after our last encounter.

So funny the people who says one looks better than the other usually own one system more often don't own either and yet they have analysis. the go back and forth on pointing out things in the compressed videos the back track when convenient and say you can't compare compressed videos.

^Yes that's me ripping it up in the GIF. :)

Here is some advice to anyone who cannot see the difference between 720 and 1080 go get your eyes checked now.

To all the XBONE fans claiming that resolution does not matter or it is not noticeable stop you come across sounding stupid.

Here is the facts a significant portion of multiplats look better on PS4 that is a fact. None look better on XBONE also a fact. But none of that matters that much if you chose to buy an XBONE or a PS4 the question is are you having fun playing the game. If the answer is yes, then shut the fuck up step away from the keyboard and pick up a controller.

If you do not have either system then you should have not been in this thread to begin so shame on you.

PS to all those that cannot tell the difference on their tv, well if your brand is westinghouse, seiki, slyvania, insignia, emerson, cielo sceptre dynex affinity and virtually most tvs not Sony, Samsung, or Toshiba. Your tv sucks and that is why you cannot tell the difference.

Not everyne can tell though.

The cheaper PS4 is producing the same graphix as the more expensive One damn Sony really turned stuff around from last gen

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.
