Forums - Gaming Discussion - what would you prefer AAA games or indie games?

For me it's obviously indies. My 2 favorite genres are dominated by indies. Horror (Penumbra, Amnesia, Outlast, A Machine for Pigs, Darkness within and so on) and Survival games (Don't starve, State of Decay etc) and beautiful games in the future that combine the 2 two genres like 'The Forest' which looks absolutely terrifying! (please look up the new trailer!) And I can see myself spending all my time hiding in my self build log cabin XD

I'm not against AAA games or anything, I'm loving the hell out of Batman Arkham City at the moment, but if I could only play one or the other for the rest of my life then it would probably be indies.

If it was a choice between indies and AA titles though that would be much harder for me, because I'm a huge fan of the 'Tales of' games and JRPG's in general =/

Indies titles could be more important than most AAA titles. So i'd say indie is better, not to mention much cheaper hehe

Resogun better than TLOU?

For example Minecraft is more fun than Ryse and has sold better. TLOU is not your typical AAA, games like that come once a genration.

based on the price difference,...

...i'd rather have 6 $10 indie titles than 1 $60 "full" retail. i got more play time out of knytt underground than i did out of most of my AAA games. but i like AAA too. i just think indie is underrated.

AAA everything. 1 thing I don't like about ps4 is the emphasis on cheap indie titles. And them being names and used as exclusives. It just seems like a way to say hey we have x amount of exclusives. When really it's killzone and knack. That's not to say they can't be fun. But they are like the smartphone games of console gaming.

AAA everything. Everything.

Seriously? Is it physically possible for you to make a comment without backhandedly trying to downplay everything Playstation? Especially with bullshit like this. What do you mean you don't like Sonys' emphasis on indies? Do you think they'll suddenly have all of their big studios work on small download titles, instead of the big AAA games? Sonys studios will still make big games just like this generation, difference is, this time they'll have a great indie support out of the gate as well, how you can even try to spin that into something bad is beyond me.

And I know the X1 releases with a couple more retail exclusives than the PS4, great, get over it. In fact I can give you a completely different stance on why the PS4 has only Killzone, Knack and Resogun on release, Sony wanted their launch games to be complete on release, otherwise I'm pretty sure they could have pushed Driveclub and maybe even Infamous to come out on launch day. Now look at X1 launch exclusives:

Forza 5: alot fewer cars and tracks than Forza 4

Dead Rising 3: noticable performance issues

Ryse: missing multiplayer features

Killer Instinct: 6 characters and no campaign on release

So you know Killzone and Knack might be mediocre games but at least they're not half the game they promise to be at launch.

OT: Either is fine

what about the niche games??

GTA better than anything?

Blops 2 better than TLOU?

Isn't this question very relative to gamers taste?

For example not in a million years I will find RTSs and MOBAs fun. But as soon as you give me Crackdown my brain will overflow with dopamine.

By the way, how's Ryse? Did you beat the game? I bet you did it in 90 mins, you!!!

Sony doesn't have more disposable income than MS, that's why they couldn't take the risk of spending close to $1B to launch their system with multiple 1st party  games. Fairy tales.

If you are passing the image of a moralist, also reprehend some of your peers on this thread also that's taking jab at Xbox games.

Simple and impartial.

You know what i mean. If you don't, you must've not tried great indie titles. GTA is one of the best AAA titles and gets a release once per 3 or 4 years.

There are a lot AAA titles coming out all the time and more than 95% of them fail to even get remembered 2 years later. So no, it's indie for me.

I like good games. Being AAA or indie doesn't say anything about the game's quality, it just means that the budget is very high or (most likely) very low. So by asking that question what you really say is: "Do you prefer games with a very high budget, or a low one?". And that's just a weird question imo.

And, as usual no one cares about mid-budget games. It's no wonder those games are close to extinct because it's all 'bout Triple A and ze Indies...

That sounds better. Nobody can't argue with that.
