What was the old PC you were upgrading from? I'm curious.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 3.1GHz OC
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6850
RAM: Crucial Ballistix 16 GB DDR3 1600MHz
HDD: 1TB 7200RPM + 1TB iomega external + 120GB 5400RPM
OS: Win7 64-bit + Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit
PSU: XFX Pro 850W Core Edition
Cooler: Corsair H60

Drop in a Radeon 7950/7970/R9 280/280X/290/290X and you would easily handle next gen gaming.

sorry for derailling the topic a little (though opening a whole new thread would be too much i guess), but is the R9 270(/x) too bad of a card to use? it looks like an awesome thing for people with little munneh.

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

It's a perfectly fine card.
Two of them are even better.

It's actually a Re-badged Radeon 7870.

I would actually suggest for people to not bother with the R9 270X and drop down another level and get the R9 270, they're exactly the same just different clockspeeds, the 270 can still overclock past the 270X easily and you save cash.

But to be realistic, it is a mid-range card and it's more or less suited to 1080P gaming, if you wan't to game at 1440P/1600P/2k/4k or Eyefinity/Surround then you are going to need more grunt (Or compute like Folding or Mining.)
I also wouldn't expect anyone to get half a decades worth of use out of it unless they paired it up with another Radeon 7870/R9 270/270X.

Case was 45, CPU and motherboard were 200, GPU was 180, RAM I took from my old computer but was 160, PSU was also from the old machine and was 150, HDD was 90, Windows 7 is torrented...so free...disc drive was 20.

Total: 845

How does a torrented Windows work nowadays? In the past it gave me problems, but I might save a buck.

Given my track record on  this site, I don't care if I get banned or not.

I torrented 7 off of a site, then used DAZ loader for Win 7 to make it genuine. I only did that because it didn't like my legit 7 key,
