Forums - Microsoft - P2P2P Xbox Fitness=XboxLive2. Pay to Pay to Play what you already paid for

Just saw this over on the Microsoft fitness webpage.

"*Xbox Fitness coming Holiday 2013. Starting January 2015, unlimited access requires a paid Xbox Fitness Pass subscription and an Xbox Live Gold membership (both sold separately). Additional Xbox Fitness content is available for purchase, and may vary over time. See xbox.com/xboxfitness."

So basically I subscribe to xbox live, then subscribe to xbox fitness and have to buy the different "games" to play on xbox fitness. Interesting. All this time I thought xb fitness was an all encompassing feature, but it's just another paywall to play the games that I already paid for...and alienate all the developers who aren't giving microsoft their cut.

How I imagine Microsoft looks like recently.

Keep making me not want to buy any of the next gen consoles guys, good ridddance.

lol it is an app that revolves around XBL. Kind of like paying for a game that has XBL features.

For example having P90X on XBO will revolve around XBL with the scores and motivation aspect of it.

If you dont like that then just buy the DVD's and you wont have the XBL aspects of the game. Not that difficult.

Or did you forget their is DVD's of these things?

amazing stuff microsoft. keep doing what you do best.

"My way or the highway" should not be the argument here.

And it isn't "kind of like paying for a game that has XBL features"

Paying for a game that has xbl features only requires 2 purchases: 1.game 2.xbl

This is paying for a game that has xbl features that is roped off into another paywall. 3 purchases. 1.game 2.xbl 3.fitness

Secondly, my other question was asking what should a developer do who wants to make a fitness game? Does their game just appear on xbfitness or what?

Choice A:  Buy Some of these apps to have the XBL Feautures.  It is pretty much what Makes XBox Fitness and not just Insanity etc

Choice B: Buy the DVD's and dont use XBL/(Which you ignored in the first comment)

Either one works on XBO.  As I said before, XB Fitness revolves around XBL(And of course Kinect).  If not then they are just the same workouts you can buy at this very moment.

Did you watch the IGN video?  The amount of content that's available to people is HUGE!

My guess is that a subscription will bring you one exercise series, and if you want more you can purchase additional series.

And considering how much some of these video series go for, I can understand why there is a charge for the content.

No.

Watch the IGN video review.

Xbox Fitness is essentially videos of the workouts, but with instanteous feedback.  Fitness programs, like Zumba are not included.

It looks, from my brief view of it, that not only may you have P90X but you may have multiple workouts available from one trainer.

Addressing choice A: Why does it also have to be behind the xbox fitness paywall then? I just said that being behind the xbl paywall makes sense. I agreed with you. What I disagree with is being being ANOTHER paywall. Your posts don't seem to be taking that into account. Do you not know there is a subscription fee for fitness?

Addressing choice B (and your parenthetical statement): Again "my way or the highway" has not worked, will not work, and shouldn't be employed with anything related to MS and the xb1. That mindset has been disasterous for them these past 6 months.

This has been known to xbox fans from the start. Why do you expect it for free? Are XBLA games for free? Are games on demand like GTAV free? No

You're paying for multiplayer and apps. This isn't an App so much as it is on par with a full game.
