This thread is a great reminder of why I don't shop at Gamestop anymore unless its absolute last resort.

So, I go out regular basis with friends and spend money... A good example is Paintball, cost everyone combined about $2000... for 3 hours...
I easily spend $200 when I go clubbing, for about the same time frame sometimes, often more than 3 hours. As would they.
$499 for 6-8 years? Bargain.

No one is saying that you or anyone else cannot just prefer these devices or that they don't hold some kind of benefit for you. I'm just calling those reasonings into question. Some of which just seem to be circular logic that in the long run just doesn't seem practical (to me at least).

I don't give a fuck what my friends are getting.
If they get an Xbone or a PS4, we'll just play that when we're at his/her place, and Wii U when we're at my place. If they get a Wii U, we'll swap games. Win win.

and why is that exactly?
I did not tell him to buy PS4 over Xbox One, and at the start they always ask me first, thats the only time I ever go down that avenue. I simply was asking him how he came to that purchase decision. My personal thoughts on his reasoning stay in my head and I am just telling all of u what I was thinking.

Maybe I'm just a lot more thrifty then most.
You are basically saying that the cost of the systems do not bother you much but I am asking why spend more for the same(or in some regards less)? Thats just throwing away money.
-Is Kinect worth it?
-Is MS's 1st Party IPs worth it?
-Is the ability to continue with your established online persona worth it(if u had 360)?
-Is just going where your friends are going(as opposed to you all just switching to the more cost effective choice) worth it?
This is the question I am posing.

One time I tried to buy a copy of a game for the 360 and two smug employees were in the back counter acting like douche bags and gave me a feeling like they didn't want to help me. I just stared at them like I wasn't finding it funny. I looked at the other employee who wasn't ringing up my game and asked him, "what was so funny?" He turned away and proceeded to act like he was working putting games away. Just do your job and sell me my game. You don't need to inform anybody about your bias. This isn't pointed towards the OP. Just venting about some Gamestop employees..
Hmm
track record: 2 disk read error ps2's for me one rrod xbox 360 so My experience MS gets the reliability nod considering there is no problems I know of that affected the original xbox. But ps2 and ps both had common well documented problems.
I think long and hard about would I buy as well...........
I would fire you by the way if you told customers to get the ps4 and made attempts to sell the x1 as a bad buy. from a business standpoint you want to move the most expensive stuff, that said I do think it's good to be knowledgeable and communicate with customers. I hate when I go to a game store and I know more about the shit they are selling than they do.

1st parties alone are worth it for me, the rest are just extra.
To the point though, a mate of mine is buying an Xbox One because he missed the last gen playing with me and our other main friend in our trio. I remember a thread made by Jay... Probably going on 6 months ago now showing that multi-plat titles made up 80% of all software purchases during the last/passing gen. It's worth it to some and you'd only be missing out on 20% or so of games, which would be replaced by other first party titles anyway... Maybe.

I have encountered this kind of thing many times. Buying COD on Wii; first he tries to tell me it's not on Wii when I can see it behind the counter. Then he spends a minute telling me about how the 360 version's DLC and graphics, ignoring my repeated statements that I'm aware of this and I know what I want. Then he's like "you know if you get it home and you don't like it, you can trade it in towards the 360 version." Really annoying.
