Forums - Gaming Discussion - Hard Fact: 1080p requires over double the performance of 720p

i can buy a 720p x360 for 100 bucks and it already has like 999999 games to choose from. And I can easily build a PC for 600 bucks that supports external harddrives. offers DNLA plays Games like Battlefield4 in 4K.

PS4 clearly worse value compared to x360 and PC.

Are we done ego boasting now? thanks

But it does not result in double the real world appearance unless you press your nose against the screen or play on a TV the size of a football field. Most consumers will not even notice the difference.

This is simply totally false......and devoid of any knowledge of the topic..1080p and 720p, is a biggap, anyone with eyes can see the difference immediately. Every site, analysis, says the PS4 clearly looked better....are they all lying??  An image at 1080p is immediatly recognizeable from 720p, it is a lot sharper, more detailed and jumps out.

Even on my 32 inch TV mabny feet way there is a stark difference betwen the two.

If there was no diff the entire industry would not be aiming to hit 1080p.................

Also, I don't know about you guys, but I buy consoles for games, not a few extra pixels that don't massively change said games.

Umm, if same games run and look better on a 100 cheaper console...that is a major selling point, it's not rocket science.

Hardcore gamers who pore over pixel-by-pixel zoomed-in comparisons on sites like Digital Foundry notice a difference. The average consumer does not.

Xbone will have plenty of games running at 60fps 1080p its just early launch titles that don't, Most devs don't have much time to fully optimize these games.

Xbone and PS4 do not have all the same games.

YEs, they do....unless they have severe eye issues........................... Whatever makes you sleep at night. There is a major difference, 1080p us vastly superior and the difference is easily seen.  You dont need to zoom in anything, just a quick glance at the screen.  I sduggest you go see an eye doctor. My 8 year odl sees a major diff from when we play a blueray on 1080p from 720p.............

I've seen an eye doctor in the last year, I have excellent vision. 720p to 1080p is just not the major visual leap SD to HD was.

And speaking of Blu Ray, many people still buy DVDs, so clearly they're not hung up on the highest resolution like us tech nerds are.

The difference between 720p and 1080p is very very noticable

...have you ever actually ever played a game in native 1080p?
