It would be one thing if square was a music company. Nice to see you like them for something.

*reads thread title*

No.

*reads OP*

Not anymore.

You tell me then who produces better music?

The answers to your question could range from many to none, depending on who answers it. After all, musical taste is entirely subjective.

If I ran this thread, I might call it "Let's Appriciate Square-Enix's Past & Present Musical Efforts", and make a point in the OP how I believe S-E's musical output is well above-average. I'm sure I could get more people to agree with me and post some more excellent examples. Like something from NieR, a game your OP ignores.

Well I've never played Nier so that's why its not in the OP...and I did say in the OP for people to post some of their favorites.

Are you trying to say music isn't significant in video games?

I personally have no qualms about posting good music from games I haven't played. A great piece should be able to stand on its own.

TWEWY's soundtrack is great in my opinion (and I did play through the game several times). Long Dream, Twister, and Shibuya are my favorite tracks.

Not really, most of the time I have my own music playing with subtitles on and I have some very negative views of square, but I complemented your ability to see something good with them. Especially games made in japan usually has odd music, example: I hated the soundtrack in FF13, I am not a fan of the music 75% of the time on most games. Its all opinion, its just nice to have options.

The way I'm learning piano is actually by humming FF songs and by playing what I hear when I humm :P

I would say Monolith Soft makes music of the same quality. However that's only one game to compare to a series of games with awesome music.

Ya we pretty much have opposite opinions lol, my favorite video game music is mostly from Japan, not to say I don't like western game's music.

Are you saying Monolith Soft has only developed one game? Xenosaga and Baiten Kaitos has amazing soundtracks as well. :P

I agree, that's why This Silence Is Mine is in the OP :P.

I don't doubt you, but I haven't played those games. I doubt they can reach Xenoblade though. It's by far my favourite soundtrack! I still doubt though that those games can be enough to push square down from the vg music throne.
