The 360 wasn't as rabidly anticipated on day one and the PS3, like the Wii, was likely hampered by limited stock (though even without that impediment, it may have been priced a bit too high for as many people to jump in on day one).

Personally, I think that if the Wii had somehow had enough stock available it would have beaten PS2's first day in NA - and kept the record past these launches as well... but alas, we'll never know.

I didn't realize the pre-order lead for PS4 in NA was that big despite the problems of the Xbone.

The economy has not grown per se it is actually struggling.  

It's amazing how the PS4 has been able to rake in 1 million in a day but at the same time it's not impressive because most of those sales are likely hardcore PS gamers too that have grown in amount over the years.

It's fun to read through this thread and see those who couldn't imagine this happen only to realize it's been surpassed two fold!

damn! Wish Sony mentioned full category sales too for ps4
