Great news for 360 owners, but hopefully sometime after launch they can start a program like that for the X1 (I know, wishful thinking)

As I said on GAF we currently don't know much about XBL on Xbone, details still have to come besides online-play and cloud-PR.

same for me... my baclog is increasing faster than I can play them games :D

now I wonder what kind of morons are those 3% that said free games were bad....

Alot of them are on these forums, loads of Xbox players saying it was stupid when sony was the only one doing it, i assume there opinon hasnt changed.

well I can see it being debatable for PSN+ since you don't get to keep them if you decide to stop getting PSN+... but here you get them and you keep them no matter what.... how can that be bad....  now don't get me wrong both are great plans... but I hardly see any valid reasons against XBL game for gold plan... you pay the price of 1 full retail game  a year (max) and you will be able to potentially get 24 games for free yours to keep... now that's some great value even if it would be only bargain bin games it would still be a great deal... granted you don't have all of them already... but imagine a new owner... there is no doubt that getting gold is a great option

now if they put back that plan on XB1 next E3 that will be a great selling point for a lot of people still on the edge... since any game won't be older than a year then... could even be better than a price cut

Ive never said games for gold is bad, im saying alot of people said PSN+ was bad untill MS started giving away games, then all of a sudden its a great idea.

I hope they do go to XB1, pity they havent confirmed it already tho, PSN+ is confirmed for PS4 day 1 with 2 free games day 1.

Its not the same.

Sonys is a rental service.

microsofts is a gift.

Halo 3 is better than almost all recent releases for the last few years. So yeah its massively worth it.

Guys, please don't argue about Ps+ and XBL. They are different, have different values and we will never agree which is better or worse, you decide. Let's all just celebrate MS is doing something consumer-friendly here. I know some can't stand it and penetrate this thread but you, Selnor, shouldn't discuss it- You said what one should do in positive MS threads.

Happy about the free games, but they have yet to give a game that I care to play. I LOVED M&M:COH but was the only one I already owned.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

The interesting part will be when both the PS4 and the XB1 have the streaming or whatever service available to play the PS3 and 360 games. Will they allow any digital purchases(or in this case free downloads) to be usable? After all, they are done digitally??? We will see.

./ignore rest of thread

yes, yo_john.. i agree.  extending this on 360 is nice and all but MS ought to show they are serious about the program and extend it to xbone.  regardless of the semantics of how games are delivered... MS really ought to match the value sony is providing with their service if they want to remain competitive.  now that ps+ is required for multiplayer on ps4 a lot more people will have it and i expect the good word of mouth about it to expand.

no clue about MS,. there is nothing to set precidence.

..but sony put soundshapes, flower, flow on ps4 with cross-buy enabled.  to me that's a positive sign that sony views their service as an ecosystem that is hardware agnostic so i have a lot of hope i'll have free access to anything on gaikai i've already purchased (digitally).

Sony doesn't give you any free games. If you stop paying Sony you can't play any of them. If I stop paying MS I can still play all of the games I've downloaded because I own them.

yeah yeah we know 2 games that are 3+ years old  a month that you get to own is better than 5 games that are less than a year old that you only get to keep while you subscribe.

Because im sure you let your xbox live sub lapse constantly, because its not really worth paying for right?

Actually I did let it lapse early this year. I had another code for Gold (12 + 1 month), but I was busy and didn't have much time to play anything. I didn't re-subscribe until MS announced this program. I still haven't had much time to play my 360, but when I do later I will have a whole bunch of new games to play that I didn't before even if I don't re-subscribe sometime next year.

You dont get the games if your not subscribed during the month its free.

I used my XBL Gold subscription code when they started the program. I'm a gold member until the middle of next year from that 13month code. I download my free games twice a month when they become available.

For the price I paid for the subscription, I'm basically buying each game for about $1.75 each (price I paid for subscription code/13months/2 games per month). Even I'm not using multiplayer at the moment, I'm still getting a good value. $1.75 per game is really cheap.
