Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why DLC suddenly doesn't matter, specifically WiiU?

DLC are normally cheap add-ons. But people seem to think it's like building a brand new game just because it's on WiiU and therefore not worth the effort.

Or are they just secretly scared that WiiU will dominate if it's given equal footing in a fight?

Yes, developers putting their games on the Wii U are secretly terrified that it might get a decent install base and make their games sell better. We all know how much the big publishers hate money!

Given their historical conduct on Nintendo home consoles, the idea of love for money overriding all other factors is, at best, questionable.

The idea that almost every third party publisher, and all of the people in high ranking positions in these companies, would rather lose out on potential money than support Nintendo because of some wide-spread secret vendetta across the entire videogame industry is, at best, some very poorly thought out nonsense.

i honestly don't really care that AC4 on Wii U isn't getting DLC cause i have never bought a single piece of ubisoft DLC and last time i bought a console DLC was mass effect 3 from ashes

Nah. I think the cost of porting said DLC combined with whatever costs Nintendo has to put it out on Wii U create an expense that isn't justifiable in terms of expected ROI for the publisher based on the low-sales of games/DLC thus far on Wii U.

If it rebounds this winter, then expect next year to include all DLC on all games.

Personally, idc. I almost never buy it anyways.

Beacuse 9/10 times the DLC didn't matter one bit at the end...

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

It's either that, or they are morons across the board.

Pick whichever seems more likely, but no rationalization is otherwise possible.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

They only were important over fanboy argument trying to claim there version of the game was the ultimate edition because they got the red hat dlc while the competition got the yellow hat dlc. The vast majority of dlcs don't had shit to the game they are made for

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

equal footing? in what? sales? have people seen the preorders? in visuals? PS4/xone will look better

I just know Nintendo's DLC, good, cheaper and done after the full tight gameplay and control game has been developed and released. Example: Pikmin 3 and Fire Emblem Awakening, oh New Super Mario Bros 2.

Nintendo doesn't charge for DLC, partches, and anything after the main game is released. Get that seat!

The only DLC worth it is all inclusive or inexpensive DLC, that matches the product.

*Looking at you Tales of/Call o'Duty* Most AC dlc is crap. DLC matters however. Pikmin 3 has it too.

But why make DLC for games no one will be invested in? Come on. Stupid Pre-release crap.
