Since I've learned that anything less than 8/10 isn't worth playing, thank journalists for that, and you gave this game a 7/10, I'm not going to get it. I'm going to buy Call of Duty Ghosts day one as long as it gets 8/10 or higher.

I think the criticism this game is getting could help david cage if he actually listens to it. (not listening to the ones debating about whether it's a game or not a game those arguments are pointless).

I will play this eventually. But a lot of the good criticism shows why Heavy Rain worked and this doesn't quite work as well. As well as brings up certain aspects that were issues with heavy rain, but were forgiven because of the positives it brought. I admittedly was more critical of heavy rain than other people that weren't in the "this is not  a game" category. Praise can also cause one's ego to grow a bit too much which is what I felt was happening to him.

I could be surprised and absolutely disagree with everyone when I play it. But some of the issues were things that bothered me about heavy rain.

If he listens to the useful criticism... and not just thinks that it's his way or the highway. I think it's good for this style of game and evolving it for the future because it is still sort of in it's infancy. Trying various things shows what works and doesn't work for this type of game that he wouldn't have otherwise known.

I guess I am halfway through the game (Navajos) and besides the stupid dodge QTE where I often don't know what to do, the most irritating thing to me is the way the story goes back and forth in the timeline. I admit that if it would start straight from the beginning to the end, the start would be even slower, but heck, If I just killed an entire police squad it's kinda odd to back to the 10 yr old Jodie, isn't it?

I think it's ok to throw the player into the action without knowing anything about the story and then explain how it came from the start to the point you were thrown into (like in Uncharted 2), but this randomly back and forth jumping just puts me off :(

Specially after the 2-3rd flashback where I think I know enough to understand the character.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

So far for me the game is quite enjoyable.I like the interaction between Aiden and Jodie and the back and forth with the timeline is necessary if you want to tell this type of story.I will hold off on a grade because I haven't completed the game yet,but I'll say that I like this game more than Heavy Rain and that's a game I'm very fond of.

End of 2016 prediction

PS4:43M-46M

XBONE:28M-33M

Really despised that part. Felt out of place and too much.

Yeah it was just a filler. How did you feel about jumping in the timeline?

Oh i couldnt agree more, Heavy Rain was a fantastic game that started slow but once word got out about its story and magnificent gameplay and interwinding characters it soon picked up. Personally ive been playing a lot of Beyond Two Souls today and I love it, its qwirky and hard to follow at first but Quantic Dream have shown once again that they sure know how to tell a great story. It wont sell aswell as Heavy Rain as its story isnt as appealing and mainstream but it still deserves to be played and really shows why Sony regard Cage in such high regard.

Nice review!

It puts the game where i expected it (apart from the music). I only played the demo and i loved it, i truly hope the game will be able to maintain that feel of the demo so it will feel like a 9 to me.

Your comment on people doing something out of character... I think that is my biggest problem with tv shows and movies nowadays. Just to get the story to move on, so obvious and oh so weak... Studio's should refuse anything related to that but sadly enough people just seem to accept mediocre/bad writing.

I really really loved that.

Some spoilers below but it shouldnt matter since it could end differently for everyone, it should give you a sense on how much it meant to me:

There were ..more than one moment where I couldve chosen "I love you" to a certain character.. but I didn't. It didn't feel right. Despite it.. I was able to leave ..that love interest open and at the end of it all.. I returned to him because I never truly excluded him in my life.

So good. Happy the game kind of understood where I felt Jodie was. It was not right at the time :D

"While this works in some occasions, some switches are more or less confusing. The idea and concept could work but it is not executed well enough. Despite that: You somewhat understand why the narrative is the way it is by the ending so you do accept it, in the end. Ultimately the story is Jodie. Her life and experiences is what the story is all about even with all the supernatural aspect that takes place. This does not change the fact that some moments are very dull."
