No that's far too low. $250 at best
This site is full of such idiotic discussions. Stop thinking like a retard.

I would expect retailers to, obviously, have some type of deal on the Wii U over Black Friday. But, Nintendo most likely won't like it. Especially considering that 299$ is already low.

Why would Nintendo not like a retailer offering a good deal on their own product thus spurring better sales for them? It's pretty much certain the retailer is the one eating the loss. Win-win for Nintendo.

They won't like the concept of lowering their console MSRP personally, not the retailer lowering it.
Probably should've made that more clear, but whatever.
$299 isn't "low" either IMO, it's still expensive, especially for a console that's trying to appeal to kids/parents. The Wii U/PS3/360 are all overpriced, but Nintendo is kinda stuck because they seem to be getting bent over on the controller's component costs and unwisely invested a lot of R&D is making a machine pointlessly electricity efficient (likely ensuring they pay top dollar dollar for a very propietary machine that delivers fairly mediocre performance for a 2012 non-portable device).
A $50 (retail price) 6570 AMD GPU likely outperforms the Wii U considerably (600+ TFLOP performance).
