I say no, you can't really call them 60FPS screens, unless they do run at 60 frames per second. Some of us, like me, get excited at 60P, and it's not nice to tease.

720+480@30p

And remember it's height times width times FPS.

What are you meaning with 60 vs 30? The hardware supports 60FPS if that's what you're getting at.

If the game runs at 60FPS, great, you can say that.

But you can not add up two separate screens at both 30FPS and call it 60FPS.  It's two screen at 30FPS, that's what I was getting at.

It's like saying my car get 50mpg, and my friend's gets 50mpg, so when we driver together, we can not say it's 100mpg, but each at 50mpg.

Oh lol only Kaizar uses that logic.

Applying it here though would mean 120FPS. BAM!

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

You're forgetting smartglass bud. Let's see that's 16*30+1*60...

540FPS!!!

Wow, that is faster than even I can see!

Can we get a dolphin emulator to make a trans warp hyper drive?  I would be happy with an small multi dimensional portal bridge.

I just want to add that the Wii U streams a 1080p image onto the GamePad's 480p screen 100% of the time even when the graphics are only 720p.

When U use 2 GamePad controllers at a time, the Wii U then only streams 2 different 720p images onto the 2 480p displays, but Nintendo said this will only be use when only 2D sprites are being displayed on the touch screen for 2 players.

What do you mean? Are you saying 1080p is flying through the air to the wii u gamepad?

Nintendo confirm that they stream 1080p onto the GamePad at 60 fps when you use 1 GamePad. Well that's what both them and the rest of the media has been saying. I don't see why Nintendo would lie about such things.

So now you're going to say that my entire argument isn't valid because I added a TRUE side note? Yes you're right that sometimes acutal things are displayed, but more often than not, it's things like secondary screens, mini-maps etc. Basically stuff that would generally be shown as HUD. But any ways, let's assume, that for some reason they display actual gameplay of a shooter on both screens, the main screen at 720p and the tablet at 480p, it STILL isn't 1200p! 720p+ 480p is barely better than 768p. let's do the math, 640x480=307200 pixels + 1280x720=921600. Those two together equals 1,228,800pixels. 768p is 1365x768=1,048,320 pixels. Now, I'm sure you're proficient in math and everything, but to make you not have to pull out your calcuator, the wiiu res would be only 17.2% higher than 768p. For reference, you/the OP(sorry I'm not sure if you're the op or not), 1200p is 1920x1200=2,073,600 pixels or 97.8% higher than 768p. So you can talk all you want about how my argument doesn't work, but unless you can offer math to the contrary that's actually correct, you can either accept that what you believed was wrong, or you can go on living in a fantasy land where the WIIU can play games in a resolution higher than most high end gaming PCs can when the wiiU is packing 4 year old tech that costs maybe $250 to the consumer.

The gamepad resolution is 854x480 gentleman.

Packs way more punch than standard 480.

No shit.

now if people could actually read what I've posted like 3 times already, and the updated OP.

THAT'D BE GREAT.

I'm not claiming any numbers, I didn't even do any research, so if the final numbers is 768p as some educated guess is above, or is smaller or bigger, I think the base point here that deserves discussion is:

is it valid to add the gamepad into the equation on resolution and fps when comparing multiplatform titles ?

Can we move onto that discussion ?

Thank U.

The gamepad screen is not that high of a resolution. If Nintendo said that, they meant the console down samples the 1080 video and only streams what is needed. It's much, much smarter and even of better quality than what you're proposing.

Yeah, thats why they halve the framerate when you have two gamepads connected

No. Nintendo said they reduce the stream to 2 different 720p images at 60 fps per image when you use 2 GamePads locally.

Nintendo said they stream an actually 1080p image at 60 fps onto the 480p pixel count screen when you use 1 GamePad controller.

Thats what the guy from Nintendo of Japan said. The one who's name starts with an E. I'm not good with all Japanese names.

Enizuka?

LOL, I would say Refresh Rate, NOT FPS.

anyways, Nintendo said when U use 1 GamePad they stream one 1080p image at 60fps, taking in input in 1/60 of a second with the real time being 1/60 of a second off from what's going on on the TV.

Nintendo said during 2012 that U can now also play Wii U games on pre-install firmware that uses 2 GamePad controllers at once. They later confirm that when U do this, the Hardware will only stream 2 different 720p images to the 2 GamePad controllers at 60 fps per GamePad.

So if 1.4 HDMI can do 2 different 1080p images at 60 fps per image on a TV, which I heard it can. Then you play a game that uses 2 GamePad controllers, and theoratically U should have 240 Refresh Rate happening, or do I have that wrong?

Anyways the Custom made HD GPGPU in the Wii U should do the 3D effect to take more work off the CPU shoulders, if it's similar enough to the GameCube's custom made GPU.
